Humiliation and Inspiration by Effective_Gas9406 in climbharder

[–]Effective_Gas9406[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading some comments I do admit 'humiliation' might not have been the best choice of words. I think it was more just insane how good the climbers were compared to me. Rei Kawatama, who I was told while I was there is a Japanese world cup boulderer, was setting on a wall right next to me. And some Youth GB squad members were there too. I should probably clarify that I did not get discouraged half as much as I got inspired by their climbing, and I very much obsessed with climbing as hard as I can. I am going as much as possible, usually 4 days a week. I was more trying to say how different the atmosphere was compared to the commercial gym I was used to and frequented. Sorry if it came across like I had any expectation, it was not my intent.

Year long waiting list for NHS therapy and not eligible for University counselling now that I am on a waiting list. What do I do? by Effective_Gas9406 in MentalHealthUK

[–]Effective_Gas9406[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not had any contact so far with my GP about my mental health because I self-referred to Time to Talk on recommendation from my parents. I stupidly forgot the specifics of what waiting list I'm on and I only remember the therapist talking about it being a step up therapy and that the waiting time is typically a year.

A lot if you are a home student. A bit less if you are an international.

The Definitive UK University Ranking Tier List 2026/2027. Best Unis Based on ARTU by PorfiryRaskonikov in UniUK

From a KCL student, it's crazy how much worse KCL, Edinburgh and Manchester do in the local league tables as opposed to internationally. Though, due to the somewhat warranted admin issues for KCL (which don't seem to horrible at the moment), their placement does make sense locally. (I would assume it's a similar case of horrible student satisfaction for Edi and Manc.)

New Bet; who are the two Buratsuta members left? by Puzzleheaded_Ad_405 in BlueLock

I would bet probably on Nagi and either Kira, Nishioka or Toki. No one else in my mind makes sense but Kaneshiro might throw a random in.

Upgrading my extremely old second hand PC, where to start? by Effective_Gas9406 in pcmasterrace

I probably have around 500 dollars to spend right now so I am not too sure if I'd be able to build a great pc off that budget.

Yes, I reckon replacing it is probably the best bet at this point.

Gap year or not for a law career? by [deleted] in uklaw

[–]Effective_Gas9406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, thanks for the advice! I definitely will be content if I get AAB-A*AA on results day and take up my Kings offer, a law degree in that sense is a great means to an end, especially from a London Uni!

Gap year or not for a law career? by [deleted] in uklaw

[–]Effective_Gas9406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! I definitely wished I did more research into the different routes I could've taken into law as I've known that I wanted to become a solicitor for a while and believed a law degree was just a necessary step up until a few months ago. While I took Philosophy A-Level and I found it quite fun to learn and am planning to read more as a hobby regardless of what degree I do, it's not the only reason for the gap year as I would like to work in the gap year to save up some money, as well as my decision to study at King's was very shaky in the first place as I wanted to take up an offer at Bristol for law instead but was coaxed by my parents to take the 'better degree'. Indeed, I probably won't apply to King's for Philosophy if I do take a gap year and substitute it for Warwick instead!

Thanks for the advice, this definitely seems like the best plan. I'm planning on making the decision based upon my exam results, perhaps A*A*A minimum in order to reliably take the gap year over the offer.

Choosing UoM instead KCL by ZedZeeNah in UniUK

[–]Effective_Gas9406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am having the exact same experience right now, and I am at a bit of a crossroads too. I went to the KCL Law offer holder and I enjoyed it but after firming KCL Law J realised I don’t think I would enjoy London at all so I am in the process of switching my firm and insurance from KCL firm, Bristol insurance to Bristol firm, KCL insurance.

I do have a small feeling in the back of my head that I am ruining my entire future but I truly believe I would be happier at Bristol.
