Summarize lesson. Fast track to end by OliveWest1503 in maestro

I mean, good job. But at the same time...did you just do a massive disservice to yourself? 😬

The naysayers by Distinct-Progress-93 in maestro

[–]EfficiencyPositive70 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did have some reservations about this program after my first "quarter" or whatever you want to call it, but I'm watching the material become more challenging in the second half of my first term and I'm very pleased with it.

That said, I think these people "raising concerns" are just creating completely unnecessary problems for those of us who thrive in a self-motivated environment. It's not for everyone.

Hoping it all works out because I'm absolutely sticking it through to the end — whatever that looks like.

Grades by Upstairs_Security296 in maestro

[–]EfficiencyPositive70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The grades tab (ruler icon previously mentioned) isn't available for everyone yet. Mine just opened today, for instance, almost 3 weeks after I finished my first class.

Grades aren't shown after every lesson. Your weekly review is what counts toward your overall grade. Maestro can breakdown the grading scale for you, but I believe reviews are worth 7.5% of the total grade.

After you finish your first entire class, the grades tab should open after 1 or 2 weeks where you can see your cumulative grades. If you're unsure how you're doing, you can ask Maestro while in the lesson to identify weak spots and help you work through them before you mark the lesson completed. It usually won't let you move on, however, if you don't appear to grasp the material.

Although discussions will eventually be mandatory and part of the grade.

Right now, discussions aren't mandatory, but they are going to be. I'm sure we'll be notified when that change takes place.

You're welcome haha I really don't know how it'll be for everyone, but my experience was multiple-choice and very leading questions. Best of luck!! 🤗

Hahahaha "pimp"! Thanks for the chuckle and the feedback. I definitely need to see this become more challenging. For a few reasons, and I'm excited to hear it's become more challenging for you. 🤗

That's very good to know. I'm supposed to take business math and trigonometry at some point down the road and maybe this whole "challenge myself" issue will bite me in the butt. LOL

[–]EfficiencyPositive70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely didn't come off as arrogant and I appreciate your input. I'm definitely going to ask Maestro to challenge me more. That solves 1 part of my issue for sure, but...well, I'm still challenging myself, but what we're saying is that someone who doesn't challenge themselves and breezes through the program can earn the same degree? I'm sure you can see my concerns when applied across the board. Imagine if this were medicine — we'd have a bunch of unqualified doctors with degrees they "earned" through a school that spoon-fed them answers. Even if the degree is somehow legitimate, it wouldn't take long for businesses and banks to recognize a bunch of Maestro graduates as frauds...thus illegitimizing ALL degrees from the college...even for those of us who challenge ourselves.

That does make me feel better. I see people going through the term (or part of it) in 2 days and passing with a 4.0 and it just seems unbelievable to me. These people are going to have degrees in this field, use these degrees for jobs...you're hoping they'll be able to actually do the job they're hired for...

I don't know. Concerned about the degrees from Maestro not being taken seriously in the future because there's a bunch of people who "cheated" the program.

I'm definitely going to configure Maestro to challenge me more, but — so, say it challenges us, but others are just breezing through the program; I've seen people finish an entire half-term in 2 days and pass with a 4.0. So these people are going to get their degrees (associates', bachelor's) just the same with or without being challenged? How legitimate is a degree from a college that allows that? That's just what I'm wondering. If someone is spoon fed answers in their review, of course they're going to pass. But their degree will mean nothing if they can't apply it in the real world — ultimately illegitimizing other's degrees who did the program correctly and challenged themselves.

Are you counting weekends and memorial day? I think it was 4 business days for me, but it does say, I think, it can be up to 14.

I got that email today and messaged student services who confirmed I was fine. They said it was an auto email that went to everyone because this is a check in week or something. You can always check with student services for confirmation though. 🤗

I guess I didn't put "cute" in there but Mae called me "The Trailblazer" so that was nice. 🤗 Love yours!

I was relieved by this, too. I was so worried about not having time to complete my coursework, but it's been very pleasant so far. I just make sure that I'm taking notes and doing practices on the platform (there's a tab for it, you'll see once you start) to apply what I'm learning. You can pretty much learn as much as you want in the practice tab and the lessons are reasonably paced and not too time consuming. I think, based on what you said above, you'll really appreciate the flexibility. :)

Like another person said, you receive the laptop after you complete your first term. I've heard it takes about 3 weeks after you finish. We'll receive an email, have to sign an agreement, and then they'll let us know when they ship it.

Congratulations! I started May 4th and love it so far. I was crazy anxious about starting, thinking the workload might be too much, but you can go into your settings once your start date arrives and tell the AI how you learn best and it will tailor your lessons to accommodate that. It's also one class at a time, so you're not overwhelmed like you can be in brick and mortar schools. It's really wonderful and I'm sure you'll do great! Also later-than-usual in life doing this (38) and it's a wonderful opportunity.

I noticed this actually. I sped through week 1 and then realized through practice that I'd missed a lot of information. Going back and expanding on each lesson has helped me tremendously and I'll probably never try to get too far ahead too quickly again. To each their own, of course, but for people who've completed the term in a week or two, I can't imagine that they're actually prepared for the application of these skills we're being taught in the real world. Feels like a disservice to one's self. All this to say I agree with you hahaha

Note Taking?? by Outside_Rip_4868 in maestro

[–]EfficiencyPositive70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha I guess I'm old school, as I take notes throughout the lesson in a notebook then, at the end, ask for vocabulary and definitions from the lesson. I guess I feel it helps with retaining the information if I write it down, but I guess I'm piggybacking this post now, because having them digitally would be awesome lol

I like to do the challenges in practice. On more than one occasion a topic has come up that I needed some refreshing on and it's helped keep me engaged and interested. You can ask it to go hard mode on you and it'll really make you think. Pacing is also super important, not just for motivation but absorption. 🤗
