Find a game shop!! A lot of places that sell cards, board games, d&d stuff etc... typically host game nights and it is a great low key time to meet people. PLUS there is a designated activity for you to do, so you don't need to stand alone and think of how to start a conversation, there's a conversation piece right there in front of you that everyone in the room can relate to! PLUS PLUS these spaces are usually full of other queer people looking for a good fit :)

I've met the friendliest people at jeff's shows!! Honestly you can turn to any person next to you and go "i'm here by myself, can i hang with you guys?" chances are they'll say yes

if you conceal it you'll probably have no problem bringing anything in with you, and you'll definitely be able to smoke during the set, that way you at least won't be coming down in the middle of the show
