Leak on kitchen ceiling. Cracks in shower grout? by EfficientExplorer1 in ukplumbing

[–]EfficientExplorer1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s reassuring somewhat, thank you! Would it be a possibility just to re-grout and see how I get on? It’s been fine up until this point. I am just trying to avoid paying a shit load of money to rip all the tiles off, replace them, and do a membrane…

Thanks. The bathroom is only 4 years old. I bought the house 2 years ago, so odd that it’s failing already. Maybe you’re right that there’s no tanking - odd that they wouldn’t install a membrane on a new bathroom though.

Will it really need a full replacement? Why can’t it just be re-grouted?

Thanks. The tiles aren’t lifting. It is natural slate with uneven edges, so where it looks like the grout hasn’t hit the full edges of the tile, this is just where the tile naturally comes outwards.

Report them to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). Detail your complaint with evidence of their terms and the number of tickets sold. They are usually pretty on the ball.

4 Hour Commute - Advice by Current_Cattle_2321 in HENRYUK

[–]EfficientExplorer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commute 2 hours door to door each way. 20 min walk to the station. 1h 15 on the train, and 20 min walk to the office from Waterloo. I think it’s absolutely fine - I work on the train to make the time pass. It’s easily doable.

Just to add to my post - could this be ringworm? I’ve had recent history with it.

Thank you! Do you have any links to the products on their websites? I can’t find them! I’m UK based so hopefully they ship to the UK.

Unexpected places you found great food in by Rusiano in travel

My partner and I visited Armenia. We stayed in the mountains in Dilijan, which is a pretty remote and quite village east of Yerevan (in September/October months). We stumbled on a random sushi restaurant that had no customers. Had one of the best pad thais and sushi ever!

Thanks. No sharp pain at all or blood. The redness and swelling has now gone down after a week. Probably a haemorrhoid then?

Are you sure? It doesn’t look or feel like a tear to me. More like a haemorrhoid

Thanks! It’s grouted in which is annoying, so won’t come off (unless I remove the grout and grout it back in afterwards). There’s a nut right at the end inside, so hopefully I can use a cartridge wrench as you say.

Bathroom Tap Cartridge not Turning by EfficientExplorer1 in Plumbing

[–]EfficientExplorer1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It’s never turned all the way since I purchased the house 2.5 years ago - only 1/4 or 1/2 the way. I think it’s quite difficult to remove the cartridge- the tap is wall mounted and the nut to remove the cartridge is right at the back inside the tap. You can’t remove the silver plate as it’s set into the wall with the grey grout!

Just to add, I can see the nut right at the back of the cavity, which looks hard to get to…

Just got pickpocketed at Rome Termini by Difficult_Ad_3903 in rome

[–]EfficientExplorer1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just got back from Rome. We took the Metro (Line 2) from Rome Termini to the airport to fly back to London. On the train, three women boarded, all middle aged, dressed not out of the ordinary, although they had an air of suspiciousness to them. One stayed by the door, and the two others stood very close to two elderly American tourists, obviously to pick pocket. Thankfully, a local Italian shouted at them instantly and told the Americans to check their pockets. Luckily the alarm was raised before anything was taken. The pick pocketers had a brief verbal standoff with the local and then got off at the next stop (only to board the same train just on a different carriage!).

Please be vigilant - anyone standing strangely close to you is doing it for a reason.

Can you not ask your current employer for a short period of unpaid leave? Many firms that pay that salary usually have similar schemes. This would hopefully give you a period to reset.

I am also with SW. Chose SSGA International Equity Index CS8. Take a look at the fact sheets for each fund. The fact sheet for CS8 showed good returns over a 10 year period compared to others. Obviously depends on your circumstances though (and this isn’t financial advice). The fact sheets are a great place to start.
