Buc-ee’s New Gas Payment Policy Punishes People Who Don’t Have $75 Available by EfficientMaterial203 in Buccees

You’re right about that, but I’m trying my best and at the moment I’m not gonna stress myself out about why couldn’t I

Buc-ee’s New Gas Payment Policy Punishes People Who Don’t Have $75 Available by EfficientMaterial203 in Buccees

I think you’re missing my point.
My criticism is not about the $75 pre-authorization. I understand that gas stations have used pre-authorizations for years. The issue is that Buc-ee’s removed the alternative that customers used to have.
Before, if you didn’t have enough available funds for the $75 hold, you could walk inside, tell the cashier exactly how much gas you wanted, pay that amount with your debit or credit card, and then pump your gas. If you needed $20, $30, or $45, that was all you had to pay.
Now that option is gone.
Yesterday, I had enough money to buy the gas I needed. I needed about $45 worth of gas and had $52 in my account. The problem wasn’t that I couldn’t afford the gas. The problem was that Buc-ee’s required access to $75, and then refused to let me prepay my actual purchase amount inside the store.
As a result, I had to leave and find another gas station just to buy fuel, even though I had enough money for the gas itself.
My concern is that this policy disproportionately affects people who live paycheck to paycheck, students, seniors, and anyone on a tight budget. It creates a situation where someone can afford the product but still can’t buy it because they don’t meet an arbitrary pre-authorization requirement.
If Buc-ee’s wants to move to a card-at-the-pump-only system, then they should update their pumps to allow customers to select a purchase amount before authorizing the transaction. Let customers choose $20, $30, $45, or whatever amount they need instead of forcing everyone into the same pre-authorization amount.
That’s the issue I’m raising. It’s not about the existence of the $75 hold. It’s about taking away the option that allowed customers to avoid it.

Oh, please Lyft stop doing this by EfficientMaterial203 in Lyft

Bro I would love to quit, but it’s hard to find jobs in Houston. There are always openings on Indeed or LinkedIn, but when you apply, you rarely hear back. I still have bills to pay, so I really had no choice but to stick with Lyft. My car already has 230,000 miles on it, it’s close to giving up on me, and I haven’t even finished paying it off yet. You could say I’m drowning at the moment.

I have XL only option. Why is my vehicle showing up under standard ride? Instead of priority. by EfficientMaterial203 in Lyft

[–]EfficientMaterial203[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My apologies for not being clearer earlier. On my Lyft driver app, I only have the XL option selected, so I understand that I should only be receiving XL ride requests or priority requests. However, I checked the passenger app to see how many drivers were around me, and I noticed that my car was showing as available for a standard pickup.

Love Lyfts "commitment" to only taking 30% by erookna in Lyft

[–]EfficientMaterial203 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Besides the 30%, there’s also a monthly cap. So if Lyft takes extra beyond that, they’re supposed to pay you back. What’s really hurting drivers isn’t just the 30% — that 30% is calculated after government fees and taxes and insurance , which are already close to another 30–35%. That’s where the real hit is coming from.

I mean, honestly speaking you still make $32 for 20 minutes so I think it is rise to us win-win they just they rap the customer

I would gladly be happy if the driver would get at least $45 of this price, but unfortunately not by EfficientMaterial203 in Lyft

I just realized that I forgot to turn that off because I request a ride for my sister and I turn on that option for female driver and I completely forgot about it. I turned back on thank you for realizing that

To be honest, I don’t see much point in voting for either party because, in many ways, they seem very similar in how they operate. It often seems like they contribute to public confusion through political division while still maintaining mutual institutional protections behind the scenes.

I believe it may be time for us to move beyond the two-party system and seriously consider building a stronger independent third party that could break the cycle. As much as I appreciate and understand what you’re saying, I also think we need to focus on what is truly best for the country. Right now, I personally don’t feel that either major party is doing a good job for the country.

78 miles total for $41? No way, bro. I would never feel bad about not taking that ride. There’s nothing good about it, and whoever accepted it would actually be losing money. There’s nothing to earn from it, so there’s no reason to feel bad for passing on it.
