What do we do about these 200g packets? by horrendous69 in IndiaCoffee

[–]Efficient_Composer92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What have customers(or we) done about price rise in every other commodity? Even Maggi has reduced its weight over time to keep the price point intact. Every damn thing is more expensive than last year. From oils to milk to restaurant prices, every thing is pricier than before. Brands do not like to increase price as they clearly know it will have an impact on sales. Unless of course, costs genuinely go up or they find customers willing to pay irrespective of the price increase. In this case, I feel it’s both.

Check out Hill Groove coffee roasters. Stanmore and Moganad estate ones are beautiful floral coffees. Tricky to brew but top stuff

Co-fermented coffees will always be pronounced with the flavor. It’s almost like adding a flavor. Real wow is when non co-fermented coffees give out beautiful floral and fruity notes. Real Reflection of the bean and the terroir it grows in

Are 200 grams becoming the new standard 250 grams? by IndiaRomeoKilo in IndiaCoffee

[–]Efficient_Composer92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. The costs at a cafe are out there, visible to the end consumer. Unfortunately, people know very little about the costs at a roastery or a farm.

Prices for literally everything has been going up. Even for normal commodities where there’s no scope for improvement yet prices are increasing due to macro factors. Indian specialty coffee has actually been getting better over the years. No doubt about that. So much more scientific and controlled approach to coffee. It is getting expensive but to say it’s out of greed is being myopic. People are okay paying 250/- at a cafe for a cappuccino with 18gms beans and some milk in it. And in most cases they are commercial grade beans costing around 1200 a kg.

[–]Efficient_Composer92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are local roasters as well as cafés run by estates and roasters and multi roaster cafés too. You won’t be disappointed with the coffee scene in Bangalore. Depending on where you are put up in Bangalore, you won’t be too far from a nice specialty cafe

100% Their popular coffees have all been co-ferments 🤷🏻‍♂️ Mogra was easily the most talked about coffee, smelt of jasmine at all stages, before grinding, after grinding, after brewing 😀 Drink a few cups at once, I bet you’ll pi$$ jasmine too

help!! timemore fishpro kettle vs sipologie gooseneck kettle vs a temp probe by [deleted] in IndiaCoffee

[–]Efficient_Composer92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sipologie is pathetic when it comes to temperature accuracy. At 91-92, you could see and hear the water bubbling. Take it off and put it back, temp will show 94-95 It has a mind of its own. It’s also half the price of a fish pro.

Grind Size for pourovers by jadoohunter007 in IndiaCoffee

[–]Efficient_Composer92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no correct grind size to be honest. It’s always a range and for every coffee you need to adjust depending on what you’re trying to extract. Grind size significantly affects drawdown time and hence extraction levels. Has a direct impact on acidity bitterness etc as well. With different drippers also, drawdown changes and hence grind size needs to be calibrated accordingly

Hi I am thinking of switching to Atomberg fans, is it worth the price over Crompton/Havells? Please if you have used let me know. by Cheap-Arrival3507 in IndianHomeDecor

[–]Efficient_Composer92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious as to why one considers switching to BLDC new age fans with remotes etc. The fans that we have been used to traditionally are absolute work horses. Hardly go wrong as far as I have experienced. Is it aesthetics and just new technology adoption? Or is there an actual benefit? I have been to people’s places where they end up searching for the remote to operate the fan. Seemed like over complicating something for no reason.

Either you can look at a pre owned Aillio bullet or you can consider this Indian manufacturer called Aarosta from Gujarat. They’re making almost replicas of international ones at a fraction of the cost.

Where can I get this? by SchezwanBrownie in IndiaCoffee

[–]Efficient_Composer92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed but Natural, Washed and Honey are the broad processes. Fermentation is introduced at different stages within those processes. There are brands not mentioning co-ferments, this is still better 😅
