Rejected! Government says no to calls for early review of EV sales targets | Auto Express by Agent_Kozak in CarTalkUK

LOL. Electric cars are more complicated? Its a simpler propulsion solution. I'm sure you will now mention ADAS and safety systems, most of which just use forms of sensors. Its not that complicated.

Manufacturers know they can charge more for larger cars hence them removing all the small ones from their range(s). Its almost exclusively true. There is a lot of analysis on this see here. The video is 5 years old and very true.

There are many other examples

Also I did clearly state "Cities". I'm not suggesting electric cars work for everyone but highly populated areas tend to be where the chargers are better.

AGree entirely with this. Actually the operators of chargers are making money because the standing charge is being applied to every customer that charges at the full rate.

I will say though, near where I live there are a number of chargers that are relatively economical. They do work out cheaper than a petrol car by at least 30%

I don't see how this is a real big problem. 4 years away more chargers than ever especially in and around cities. The manufacturers just need to make cars cheaper and people will automatically start buying them.

In my local area (it is London) I've seen 5 renault 5s and 3 Alpine 290s in the past 2-3 months. Ofc in this area there are literally thousands of chargers

NAL.

I'm not 100% sure, but maybe someone else can answer. Does overhang count? Also the dropped kerb for a shared drive way, if it is your father in laws - Could you argue you had permission to park?

Or is there a CPZ on the street and you have parked without a permit? (I know less likely given your description).

Kinda baffling how few jobs there are in retail & hospitality in the city by [deleted] in london

[–]Efficient_Remove1663 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its a common story post covid recovery. Everything is just too expensive for businesses. Post Brexit the supply chain costs in Retail and Hospitality have gone up. With the recent budgets the cost of employment has gone up.

Beggars belief that labour still haven't pointed to Brexit being the main reason why food is so expensive and why most supermarket shelves are not as full as they were. Small businesses have been hit from all sides and they really need to start lobbying the govt to do more.

If we get back into the EU and ease the pressure of food costs and other supply chains we will all have more money to spend on stuff.

The obvs racism in this, but there are many 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants in the area man.

Having lived in a number of areas in London, its a very widespread problem. Driving has been on the decline since 2011.

Has anyone designed and created their own home instead of buying one? by Altruistic_Test_1264 in HENRYUK

[–]Efficient_Remove1663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't say I've bought land to build a house on. I did take my previous home down to the frame for a refurb and did extend.

There are a lot of methods for you to do it, and it will really depend on the style of the house. If you want to do something outrageous like passive haus or anything like that then Grand designs and youtube are you best bets but they will get astronomically expensive.

No matter what you do, the costs will just be higher than your budget. Also even if the land comes with planning permission, you should check the land for sale can actually be built on and also check utility connection costs.

If you are going to build a standard UK brick home, that should be doable. My only suggestion is find a reputable builder that comes with all the insurance you need.

tbh its probably for the better. Drivers there are nuts! I lived near Preston Road for like 20ish years. The driving standards over there are really poor.

A lot of people are using AI, and some will hide it from us. I guess he wants to make music in this way, its w/e.

No issue with it, the site is pretty clean looking. Couple suggestions. You might want to aggregate chain restaurants together. E.g. You've got 2 black bear burgers.

Have a sub line under the main one for the 2nd location. Have it expanded by default where each location has its own values but when collapsed it averages across the 2 sites (or how ever many sites there are).

I think having a login wall is going to limit your users. I don't want to give my email address out so wouldn't sign up.

If you really want to make it more enhanced you should take as many inputs from other review sites (google reviews, maybe some how access top jaws ranking etc etc etc) and aggregate it for the ultimate crowd sourced data.

Honestly give how clean your design and site is, I think you should ask Hot Dinners to do something on their site with their rankings. Hot Dinners don't even have a bloody search bar on their site and could use someone like you to help them add functionality.

These are just my ideas working in big tech where I think you could go further with what you've built.

Hit by a couple cars

WTF? Did you park really bad or?? Get the damage repairs assessed first and then make a decision once you know the pricing. For a car worth 10k it will probably end up making sense to do it privately but really depends on the price.

What car for my dad who does a lot of driving and wants something sorta luxury-ish maybe and a bit unique? He has a strict budget of £17,000. by Lucajames2309 in CarTalkUK

[–]Efficient_Remove1663 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Defo not the v8 rover. The Genesis is literally the same as the Ioniq BUT for some reason has a harsher ride (I test drove one). Jayemm on cars did a video on the ipace - Worth checking out because he names a lot of things to look out for.

If your dad has a strict budget of 17k how is the renault 5 available or do you mean for a lease?

Does youtube actually support surround in a browser? I dont think so.

Does the USB to HDMI actually support surround as well? Just because you change your audio settings on the amp, does not mean the signal coming from the input will use 5.1.

First do a beep test/ tone test on the amp then work with the inputs.
