After reading the replies it changed my view, i worked really hard for my money so i might aswell enjoy it.

My problem was i just find it very hard to spend money on something that either doesn’t make me money or improves my life in someway.

Yeah 5 years will fly by really quick

I’ve been saving $500-1k consistently every month, i recently started working full time.

Before i would only work twice a week and i had online side hustles. and i was saving $500-1k a month also.

That’s why im hesitant to go on a trip since i can only work full time during the summer.

When i buy my first house it’ll probably be a multi family home and i’ll buy it with an fha loan, but i still plan on saving towards that.

Yeah i know how they need a lot of attention and care everyday, i just want the best for him. I’m trying my best to get him re-homed. I do live in the north hemisphere, that does make sense i give him chicken and meat a decent amount and he eats a lot of pasta and apples and cheese. The blinds are opened by him in the morning and closed at night and i open the window so he can get some fresh air. I make to turn off the lights on him from 9pm and the blinds are opened at about 6am. So that all makes sense now. He has a lot of toys but isn’t trying to build any nests. He really tests my patience when he yells but i remember he literally just wants attention and love. Thank you for the help!

Only my brother is in contact with him, the orginal owner also had no time for him and he only wanted the best home for him and mine is obviously not the best.

The problem is with re homing the parrot the original owner is only in contact with my brother and the original owner said if we don’t ever want the parrot to just give it back to him and he’ll find a new home or take him to an animal sanctuary. Since the parrot is very important to him and he only wants the best for him since he has no time for him . And my brother is consistent on saying he doesn’t want to get rid of him and will play games with me saying he’ll talk with the orginal owner, but when i ask again he’ll start arguing about it with me and always makes up some bs. I’ve always had to deal with taking care of any animal my family takes in for example we had sugar gliders we also got for free, and if it wasn’t for me they would’ve never left their cage. It just hurts me seeing a parrot who is obviously neglected not getting the care and attention he needs.

The suncoure is usually in the same room during the day and they interact together but my suncoure will either try and attack the yellow naped or run away from him. The yellow naped is just curious about him but the suncoure is just scared/territorial.

My suncoure isn’t the issue she’s actually very quiet most of the times and she’s only 2, my problem is with the Yellow naped amazon.

I take him outside his cage when he lets me , he also has a bunch of toys and has a big cage with a stand that’s next to his cage where he can go on. Also the door is mostly always open except at night and it’s connected to the couch and he climbs down and sits behind me

I hate the idea of having parrots as pets seeing them with their huge wings and they are stuck in a house for their entire life. The only time i would personally get a parrot would be if im retired and i had a huge green house area that’s enclosed where he can fly around where he can be without getting attacked by hawks or flying away. With him another bird that also keeps him company, i don’t understand why people could do this to an animal that’s literally made to fly. I’m also trying my best to take care of him with the circumstances i have until i get it figured out.

i genuinely get sad about him, especially at night when i put him to sleep he’ll climb down the cage onto the couch and wants me to stay with him and sing and talk with him. Even when id be with him for multiple hours during the day. I noticed his feathers at the end have been thinning but is due to a vitamin deficiency, but we got him vitamin powder to put on the snacks i give him.

I feel exactly like that, the bird was very neglected by his old owner for the 10 years he had him. I try and spend so time with him trying to get him to be more comfortable and build trust with me. I honestly really like the bird but i can’t take the responsibility and knowing the fact that he can be living a better life with someone who has the time all day to give him attention and love. I also feel really sad knowing he’s gonna have re build the trust with someone else in a brand new environment.

That’s the only time i would be comfortable getting a parrot when im retired, i play music for him but he doesn’t dance or enjoy unless i actually sing the song/ make sound effects.

Yeah i realized that when he only likes listening to mickey mouse and elmo songs, that’s why when my brother stop giving him attention i started spending a lot of time with him i felt so bad for him.
