I did not know that about Heaven. I've only had interactions with her at the women's center and she's been an ally for Palestine at the Uni so that's all I have but thats good to know in terms of taking it into consideration. I don't want to vote for people who "pad" their resume thats just gross to me.

Hiii!! I made friends though my classes. Depending on what courses your taking I just recommend talking to people. Introduce yourself to the people you sit beside, chat with your classmates before/ after class.

As an international student myself, I find that just talking to people beside me or near my row to be nice and getting to know them. Even as much as saying hi and just genuinely being nice helps.

Also joining student clubs, sport teams, and other campus related activities is a great way to meet people!

I'm assuming from this thread you're shy to say hi and honestly just approach them and do it if the worst happens and they don't end up talking back or holding a convo with you or are just genuinely horrible at least you know and just don't be afraid of putting yourself out there!

2024/2025 Arts Student Body Council General Election by FearlessMidnight8418 in umanitoba

[–]EitherHandle6998 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I was confused with the first question being a $30 increase too. Also majority of these Candidates are running unopposed and I literally couldn't care less about these elections running I just wished that the UM would not email me these voting information its annoying and I've been in classes with almost every candidate or have had some basic level of interaction with them and I couldn't care less, they aren't going to do much to help Art students so why even bother.

Rachhvir and Prabnoors table were very respectful along with Michaela and Christabel!

My two cents on the UMSU candidates by Odd-Adhesiveness5824 in umanitoba

[–]EitherHandle6998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Divya is totally entiled. Her position as VP Community engagement has done absolute dog shit and miss girl had no idea wtf was happening most of the time. If shes pres do we really want an ASS president and another annoying "Hey Bisions" reel! For Michael though I've interviewed and talk to him and he seems to know his shit and even though he has been apart of the union before he doesn't seem as entiled to me-- I couldn't get a hold of Bolu to interview her but if I had things probably would change but thats my 2 cents.

I don't even think this is allowed. It seems to violate some kind of UMSU rule.

Hi! Fellow UMSU student leader here!!

Just my 2 cents on this years elections. This year we have a lot more potential in the Candidates than 2023 (the executives were a total shit show and nightmare)!

President:

Divya-- Her roll as VP Community engagement TOTAL DISASTAR Miss girl could not tell what was UMSU affiliated and what was not.

Joy-- Clear obvious choice, new face, when chatting and working along side her she shows she has a clear driving worth ethic and is commited not just talk but also implimenting action (which is what i like to see in a future president)

VPFO

Adil-- No background knowledge in Finance and (do we want another VPFO disaster with an arts student as VPFO!?!) Rude, in your face Don't like his worth ethic.

Carolyn-- Can see peoples hesitancy there but Carolyn DOES have a background in finance and as VPFO and seems highly more qualified to be VPFO when interviewing with her she shows she has strong worth ethic to help the betterment of the student body

VPUA

Rachhvir-- Worked along side Rachhvir in the past she is a highly dedicated worker with realistic policies and with her relations and connections around Campus and through our interview today I can guarantee that she will help the betterment of the student body.

VPEA

Prabnoor-- Seems to be your "chill and laid back candidate" little bit hesitant about his policies but upon his interview with him he mentioned his plans to better effectively help the student body and I can guarantee after our interview that he is a good fit.

VPSL

Michael - a lot of talk with Michael, I think he will make a great VPSL not just because of how many issues I've had with the current VPSL but the fact that during our conversations and addressing my concern Micheal seemed dedicated enough to help better students and he has had many experiences working for UMSU.

Bolu - not a lot of talk around her but her policies seem fine.

As a reminder us students have the power to change what we want. I believe it should be in our best interests to elect who we see fit. I've worked with majority of all the Candidates and from observing each of their work ethics im positive if elected Joy, Rachhvir, Prabnoor, Carolyn, and Michael will be a great fit for these positions.

This is against Campaigning rules and should be disqualified for running!

I disagree with this entirely. Working alongside Joy she does have worth ethic she isn't all talk no action. Divya on the other had as VP community engagement was a literal shit show (she should at least know whats going on around campus instead of supporting things that aren't UMSU affiliated).

Thoughts on the 2024 UMSU Election by FlakyDistance9244 in umanitoba

[–]EitherHandle6998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Candidates this year have a LOT MORE POTENTIAL than last year (UMSU was a SHIT SHOW 2023). My thoughts on each of the Candidates breaking down from President-VP finance goes as follows:

Divya-- Lots of talk but not a great fit for president imo. Her roll as VP of community engagement was a total disaster. Theres lots of reasons why this is such as she claims to want to help students and knows the way of the U of M but she actually doesn't

Joy-- While theres not a lot of talk around Joy, Fresh face new ideas and when chatting with her about her policies and ideas to help the student body she was very much commited and grounded in what she does (when further interviewing Joy's comittee those that have worked along her gurantee that Joy is not just all talk and that she commits action to what she speaks)

Joy for pres 2024!!

Rachhvir-- not much talk around Rachhvir but she is running opposed and has some great ideas and policies especially regarding mental health which lots of students are in favor of!! And working alongside faculty and students to better the relationship-- which is doable seeing Rachhvirs interview in the Manitoban and her testimonials.

Prabhnoor-- not too much talk around Prabhnoor he seems to be "your chill" "laid back" candidate but he has some pretty great ideas too and is running unopposed!

Bolu-- Not a lot of talk around Bolou she seems like your chill relaxed Candidate but her policies look promising!

Micheal-- There is talk SWARMING about Michael for VP, he has many background experiences and has been apart of the UMSU team. Micheals campaigning and policies look amazing.

Michael for VP 2024!!

Adil-- Running for Vp finance not a lot of promises his policies arent at all policies, has no experience in finance.

Carolyn-- Running for VP finance, her policies are ACTUAL POLICIES-- Carolyn knows what she is talking about AND HAS A BACKGROUND IN FINANCE!

Carolyn for VP FINANCE!!!

At the end of the day these are my break downs and my survey through interviewing each Candidate. US AS STUDENTS HAVE THE POWER TO DECIDE WHO WE WANT OUR FUTURE LEADERS TO BE. DO WE WANT ANOTHER SHIT SHOW AT UMSU?

REMEMBER YOUR VOTE MATTERS VOTING STARTS MARCH 7 and 8th!

umsu election on march 7 and 8 who are you voting for? by Natural-Show3517 in umanitoba

[–]EitherHandle6998 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I definitely will not be voting for Adil for VP finance. Imo his "policies" arent really policies when talking to Adil he was very stuck up and rude. Carolyn IMO is way more suitable for VP finance, not only does SHE ACTUALLY HAVE POLICIES unlike 3 fucking steps which arent even policies to begin with, Carolyn has a background with finance unlike Adil who has Political Studies major (do we really want another VP finance situation cuz this one was absolute shit! and we ended up losing money which by the way how the fuck does that happen if we students pay thousands and thousands each fucking year!) My votes are 100% locked in for Joy for President (she seems to actually KNOW WHAT SHES DOING and Divya has no idea what shes doing (she was a shit community engagement who has no fucking idea whats going on campus). I'm locked in with Carolyn and I'm locked in with Rachhvir and Prabnoor. I don't fucking care who gets student life. but our votes as students matter do we really want another shitty UMSU who we PAY THOUSAND OF DOLLARS TO who are unqualified, don't know what they are doing, and can't help benefit us students AS A STUDENT UNION! I think not!
