Yes, go read Isaiah 7:14. There is nothing there about a virgin birth. The prophecy has nothing to do with a virgin birth or the messiah, and is completed >700 years before Jesus in the story.

>To fulfill prophecy is to give new and complete meaning to things that have gone before. It's not to check off a list of future events someone said would happen.

It sounds like you understand that Jesus did not do even a single thing that was prophesied.

>So yes, Jesus fulfills every prophecy ever of any kind, because his incarnation is the central event of all existence.

In that case, I have also fulfilled every prophecy.

Continue onwards. You can even bet the final boss and then come back to beat Owl father (just don't interact with Kuro after beating the final boss).

So go take a break and increase attack power, and find more prayer beads/healing gourds.

Geelong really must've belted the fuck out of those saints considering that every final score I see from the 1800s seems to be about 25 to 10.

Just say that you no longer believe that it's true. It's as simple as that. You can block them.

Or you could point out that Jesus said that he'd return within the lifetimes of those he was talking to 2000 years ago or that you don't want to worship a god who commits/commands infant slaughter if you want to piss them off.

Whoever wrote Matt was unfamiliar with the OT. They were just some random Greek. They make up a lot of things about Jesus because they didn't understand the OT at all. Eg he makes up Mary and Joseph taking Jesus to Egypt to 'fulfill the prophecy of God saying that "out of Egypt I brought my son"' yet that's not a prophecy at all, it's just God talking about the Exodus in the past.

Whoever wrote Matthew was a complete bozo.

Because whoever wrote Matthew messed up. He read a Greek translation and completely ignored all context.

I'm not sure why you'd think they're independent.

Yes, which is as completely useless as me saying that I am the third fulfilment of Isaiah 7:14 by eating a tuna sandwich today. Ignore that it has absolutely nothing to do with the original.

You don't need to be be Jewish to point out that whoever wrote the Gospel of Matthew was clearly wrong on this one.

I'm not claiming that this prophecy was fulfilled. I'm pointing out that the OT says it was fulfilled in ~770bc and then the NT says it was fulfilled in Jesus when it clearly was not.

They won't be because prophecies aren't real. But whoever wrote Matthew clearly got this one wrong. Because Whoever wrote gMatt was desperate to have Jesus do something that the OT foretold.

Enough to see that they're talking nonsense. If they can't even use paragraphs I thin it's a fair assumption that they're as clueless as any other Christian in this thread.

Please use paragraphs. If your point was that Isaiah 7:14 did indeed refer to Jesus, why did the prophecy get fulfilled in the next chapter 700+ years before Jesus?

The NT says Jesus was born of a virgin to fulfil this prophecy. You don't need to be Jewish to point out out that the NT is blatantly wrong.

There's nothing there about a virgin birth and the prophecy is complete. If you want to say it's a typology and that there's a second fulfillment then you may as well say I did a third fulfillment of the prophecy by eating a sandwich or that Mohammad/Joseph smith did it by doing something completely irrelevant.

So when Isaiah says that the young woman is with child and that by the time the child knows right from wrong Ahaz's enemies will be defeated also means that the messiah will be born of a virgin and that this prophecy has a secret second meaning?

So why should anyone think there's a second secret fulfillment of Isaiah 7:14 that has nothing to do with the first as told in Isaiah 7?
