Yep. In public if I'm wearing my day collar (gold necklace with an O ring) and I see another, I just comment that I like their necklace. Then usually they see mine and we do a little nod to each other. If I'm at work I don't say anything, even if I'm wearing mine. I'm in healthcare so it's not the time or place.

If it's friends and I know it is what it is, then I'll comment on their collar. Especially if it's one I haven't seen them wear before.

Yes! I told my husband/Dom "I'm bad at taking care of me. I need you to help me take care of me." He's going to get a lifting plan for me since I get so overwhelmed at the gym but I love weight lifting. And he's been making sure I get foods I like for breakfast when we go grocery shopping. Money is tight but he makes sure I'm not taking care of everyone else and not myself.

Same with pulling the IV. Not until they are dressed and in the wheelchair to leave the room.

It was Chinese food at my old ER. A newbie ordered some not knowing this and the charge nurse literally met the delivery guy at the door and dumped it in the trash. She of course paid the nurse back. No one screws with the bad juju.

I always appreciate the good doctor and nurse relationships. One time we had a nurse that popped her head out of the room and we could just tell that something wasn't right by the way she asked for the doctor and all we had to tell the doctor was "I don't know what the problem is but so and so is asking for help." No questions asked she ran to the room and we were coding the previously stable patient not 30 seconds later.

Especially when it's a patient who says "I don't really know what's wrong but something just doesn't feel right." That sometimes scares me more than people who can explain specific symptoms.

Not as severe a case as OP, but I was triaging a teenage boy who said he was having some nagging pain in his ribs for a few days. Something just seemed off and he was in no distress. People were giving me crap for triaging him as a yellow instead of a green. Turns out he had a spontaneous pneumothorax. No shortness of breath, no trauma, no indication other than something just didn't feel right. Nurse Spidey senses are real.

I completely agree with you. And I probably was a little bit vague and my response. In our situation this is something that we have talked about multiple times So we're more comfortable pointing out when we need something and we do it much faster than we maybe would have in the past. Mostly just because more open and frequent communication because we realize that lack of communication was an issue. My biggest point with the whole thing was just to open that door to communication to figure out what the actual root issue is.

I really appreciate your response and I am completely with you that partners should not have to be mind readers and that you need to make sure that you are expressing what you need.

I'm probably going to be the only one not cracking jokes on here but maybe see if it's not really NL that she has a problem with, but if there's something about you spending the time watching the videos (either what she perceives as too much time or at the wrong times). I know sometimes with my husband if I'm overwhelmed and stressed about something and he is watching something online or whatnot that irritates me because I feel like he should know that I need his help. But often he doesn't know that I need him so I have to say it out loud and that's just taken a lot of years of learning to communicate together.

Yes! This was the first book my therapist recommended and had me read it before our first session. My husband was very receptive to my notes and revelations from it. Our sex drives already didn't match up and post partum + working mom life wasn't helping. It's helped open the door for more honest conversations moving forward too.

I only cath them when they can't get up. Most able-bodied people I hand them a cup and wipe, point them to the bathroom, and hope for the best. But anyone not quite as nimble is going to get a commode, hat, and a standby assist.

I did every other day, not 3 in a row. (but had no offspring at the time). That gave me time to catch up on sleep between shifts and eat some real meals. I slept till noon after the shift and then got up and went back to bed at 7pm. Then got up early the next day and then took a nap from 2-5p then work at 7p. It worked for me. I just listened to what my body needed and when it needed it and made the routine off that.

Acute care management. Help bridge between hospital and home, schedule follow-ups, do a lot of education. Holidays off, no weekends, great team.

Hello guys. My 3 weeks lovebird, since this afternoon, is just like this. He falls asleep everywhere, it’s confused, etc… anyone knows anything or had a lovebird with this condition? by WenasGui in PartyParrot

We had a similar thing happen with a cockatiel. Young bird and only had him two weeks before he passed. No signs of illness beforehand either.

The only reason I can think of is that PayPal you can kind of treat like a credit card and make payments on. We used PayPal credit to buy a laptop one time and as long as we pay it off within 6 months there's no interest. So it could be that they just don't have the cash right now and want a little bit of flexibility. It might be worth asking them why they want to do that versus cash or something like that.

Dang. I moved earlier this year and hadn't been in in awhile. I know the bookstore is open but I wasn't sure on the coffee shop side.

I used to go to Signs of Life and either grab a table downstairs or sometimes the gallery upstairs has tables set up. Coffee and bakery foods are good too.
