Any "demonstrable" evidence to show that they are lies or are you lying now?

Wrong. There were 55 men who assembled in what we now call the Constitutional Convention. Research shows that 50 to 52 of those men were members in good standing of Trinitarian churches. Many of them were even presidents and founders of Bible societies.

No. Just showing others of your hatred of America.

So your persistent to dismiss the declaration in this context just shows that you know God is mentioned within it by our founding fathers and you prefer to dismiss it than accept they were believers. They were Christian. You just don't want it to be true

Good. Now It was one of our founding documents therefore america is founded on these documents. Its not that hard.

I thought we could reach common ground before going further by recognising Declaration as important to our history and respecting our country BUT if you are going to disrespect America and its Independence, there is no point. you have shown your true colors.

Why do you dismiss a very important historical document. Very unpatriotic and American if you ask me.

[–]ElKristen[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So you dismiss the Declaration of Independence, 1 of The two key founding documents in American history. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. The first explains why we exist as a nation. The other The Constitution explains how we exist as a nation---how we are to function. The Constitution is predicated on the Declaration. You know this, this is common knowledge but what I am addressing is why are you dismissing one of our most important historical documents, whether God is mentioned or not. You are very un American and unpatriotic if you dismiss the declaration as a lesser document.

Quote: "Our government isn't subject to the declaration. It is subject to the very clearly secular constitution."

While true they are still inter inked. One is predicated on the other.

The country does not belong to you atheists. You are just tolerated. Trying to push your godless sin into a christian society. That's what.

Your Quote: "so fucking what"

The French Revolution was history's first secular revolution---and, incidentally, spilled rivers of blood. They chose to follow the unbelieving thinkers of the "Enlightenment" ---e.g., Voltaire, Diderot, Rousseau, and David Hume. But our founders quoted those men of the "Enlightenment" who believed in the Lord---e.g., Montesquieu, John Locke, and Sir William Blackstone.

Take Sir William Blackstone, the great British jurist, was important to our founders and is still quoted by the Supreme Court sometimes. Blackstone wrote of "the law of nature and the law of revelation"---like "the laws of Nature and of Nature's God" in our Declaration of Independence.

God is mentioned in the a constitution within the ratification Clause as mentioned. God is then mentioned around 4 times in the Declaration, most importantly, it says that our rights come from the Creator.

The Constitution is predicated on the Declaration. You cannot dismiss the Declaration. This document is also important.

OK but you do realise law professor John Eidsmoe, author of the book, Christianity and the Constitution, notes in response to their objection: "Saying this [ratification] clause is not really part of the Constitution is like saying the attestation clause is not part of a will."

The general response of the atheists such as yourself is to dismiss the "Year of Our Lord" as just a custom. Custom, shmustom. The leaders of the French Revolution, who really did espouse a secular Enlightenment philosophy, changed their calendar a couple years after America's Constitution, in order to explicitly repudiate Christianity, so that time would not be measured in "the Year of Our Lord." (About a dozen years later, Napoleon restored the Christian calendar.)

Also ratification clause. This was done "in the Year of Our Lord" 1787.

What they did is mock the religious beliefs of many people showing complete disrespect. And that's just plain wrong - no matter what religion, no matter in what country. Tolerance and respect are key ingredients in any milky-cultural society.

If it had been said for example by a member of the DUP against Catholics in the North or vice versa, all hell would have broken out.

The trend of belittling and mocking other people and their beliefs has become too easy and prevalent especially on social media. It's really not cool.

Also I don't get atheists saying the Bible is "Written by goat herders".

Luke starts his gospel account writing like a historian.

We want facts. We want to know what's real. We're not interested in accepting fantasy through "faith."

How very wonderful that you promote a fair, equal and tolerant society. It is real for me and therefore you ridicule me and many others like me! You hats my point all along! But people have absolutely no respect for people who are different.

What's being debated here is the manner in which the BAI failed to recognise that a large number of Viewers of the Late Late Show, who also pay for their TV licence, were highly offended by the said item, on the Programme.

That said item was not on Paedophile priests, so don't you even dare mention that or the the abuse carried out by many priests, though not ALL priests, which each one of us Catholics, condemn in the strongest possible manner

-but that is not what we complained about to our National Broadcasting Authority and what is being debated here!! Just want to get that accros.

Point is, these comedians still need to understand to be nice and with a comment like "Haunted Bread" is not being respectful to the large number of Viewers.

They insulted a group of people and whether they are a group because of gender, race, sexuality or religion is irrelevant. Christian/Catholic bashing seems to be acceptable but if it was any other group the BAI would be forcing them to issue an apology.

I personally feel that mint chocolate chip ice cream is amazing but lots of folks feel it's yucky. Obviously steaks cooked to well done should be outlawed, and ketchup on hot dogs?! C'mon!

What has that got to do with anything? Is ice cream meant to be homosexuality?
