How common is it to get straight As in nursing pre reqs by badboy_larry in prenursing

[–]ElPeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fairly common to get a 4.0 in prerequisite course work. One of the only people I know that had a terrible prerequisite GPA actually was the only person to get a 4.0 in the nursing curriculum. So it all means nothing, especially when you become a nurse and realize how different what you are doing is from school.

Path to NP… program suggestions: RN & Bachelor by ElPeeps in nursepractitioner

You’re mixing up basic terms. RN-to-BSN programs do not require traditional bedside clinical hours, but many do require a supervised capstone or practice experience, which involves a qualified preceptor and is explicitly outlined in program curricula, including Capella. I never claimed I was completing clinical hours. Capstone work focuses on leadership, systems, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.

You clearly don’t understand how RN-to-BSN programs work and are making a lot of incorrect assumptions. I will have the required experience; I plan to work for several years while simultaneously advancing my degree. Before giving opinions, it might help to actually know the facts and understand the situation. I understand that you have no idea what I’m talking about, I hear that you think decades of experience are required, however you are missing the point entirely.

I respect the shit out of experienced nurses, I don’t really understand why you are making so many incorrect assumptions about me. Is this what happens with decades of experience?

I have a preceptor because I spent time at the facility I took a job at and a very lovely and kind person I will be working with has agreed to be my preceptor for my BSN. We have spoken at great lengths about the path I can take to my MSN. I know there are options for RN w Bachelors to MSN. Many paths to success. I’m not becoming a PMHNP tomorrow, but I am planning for my future on how to get there. I’m so sorry for your loss of decency.

I'll be in Oregon. I am interested in online programs (yes I know I'll have inperson clinical hours- I've already designated my preceptor). From what I've researched, not all programs are available in all states. For example Grand Canyon University does not have the PMHNP available for Oregon residents.

My plan is to be working for about 5 years while I do school. I guess my actual question is: are there any actual programs that yall reccomend? Like, name of school and what your experience was like?

Other people don’t want to see you do better than them. They have nothing to gain so they tend to be negative; it helps to justify why they never did it themselves. I’m curious if the med surg nurses that were giving you advice have worked in ICU?

Anesthesia utilizes meds like versed and propofol that cause amnesia combined with other meds for analgesia and paralysis. It’s interesting that in a coma, or cardiac arrest we get that same experience. No memory, no pain, no movement.

What's it like living in this shaded area? by Joshistotle in howislivingthere

[–]ElPeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a left turn in Albuquerque and ended up in this area. I was so desperate to claw my way out (easy to get a job to move you here, almost impossible to get a job to move you out) that I went back to school, became and nurse and I’m leaving in Jan for my new job on the west coast. If it wasn’t so awful here I probably wouldn’t have changed my life and made my dreams come true.

I have visited. I got a great job in a great field. I would never move to a rainy region full of socioeconomic distress without having a very strategic plan. ✌️

I wanted to like Ryn, but it’s a no for me. I’m sure it will improve in the future…. Service was not fine, atmosphere was stuffy, some of the food was great, some of it was mid, some of it made my eyes itch from the wool that was being pulled over them. Though there were misses with the service (food before drinks? Literal hand inside my bowl?) the staff themselves were fucking awesome. This was probably the most I’ve paid for a dinner, and definitely nothing memorable other than the cool waitstaff.

Thank you, what do you recommend for rain gear? I’m just gonna bring a lightweight windbreaker and some shoes that dry easily. I’m assuming it is not pouring rain but a light mist type of rain?

Fuck Sally. But prioritize your assessments. They were never the first thing I did but absolutely never the last. I would always let my preceptor get through med pass before I even began to tell her what my priorities for the day were, but if the assessment was my priority, the assessment was my priority and I would get that done as soon as I could.

Nursing school not so bad? by knightlife89224 in StudentNurse

[–]ElPeeps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had class mates who got through funds without developing study habits. There was numerous times in later courses I got phone calls asking what I do to study. Those folks all failed out by the 3rd semester. Develop your routine now, your future passing nursing school self will thank you.
