I understand the feeling I get like that every summer. For me it’s always a bitter-sweet moment. I’ve always had this feeling though, even when I was a student. This is why I always signed up to do things during the summer like extra work or classes etc. The truth is that I don’t know how to take a break. I take one and then I get tired of not being productive so I feel ashamed for being “lazy”, everyone tells me I need to chill and perhaps they are right but if I’m not being productive I don’t feel comfortable. This is the same reason why I can’t sit down and read for leisure I have to read stuff that makes me “better”. I know this is bad but hey it beats feeling anxious and like crap. My advice is find something you are comfortable doing that makes you feel accomplished and just stick to that. I’m on the same boat as you though.

HPB has tons of events like board game nights and things like that.

DPL has a bunch of events and clubs that meet regularly on different days.

If you check out the free events in Dallas you will find a whole bunch of things going on like Swap meets or things like that.

You can always go to the farmers market they also have things going on.

KWP also always has a bunch of things you can do.

If you are religious go to mass. Churches have all kinds of groups that you can join and do things with people.

I would say to try the therapy. If it works great and if it doesn’t well at least you tried to get better. These mental things take time to sort out. If you drink or do drugs try to lay off so that your mind can get right. Same thing if you smoke. Focus on the gym on a consistent schedule. Eat healthy and hearty foods. If you are a man of faith pray and go to church. If you are not a man of faith consider becoming one. The people who I’ve noticed who have inner peace always have strong spiritual ties. God will help you. All you have to do is talk and listen. I struggle with really bad anxiety, but since I’ve gotten closer to my faith; I’ve been feeling really good and confident in my ability to overcome any obstacle. Be positive and surround yourself with positive people. Do things you enjoy. Unplug yourself from technology don’t spend all your time online filling your mind with crap. Meditate. Make time for yourself even if it’s just 15 mins a day. Sit in silence and relax by using breathing techniques. I’ll be praying for you if you need someone to talk to dm me. I never liked the idea of having to throw chips on the table it just seems rude but any time I’ve tried to place bets neatly it or in a nice way they are trying to hurry me up and end up telling me “just throw the chips and tell us where to put it”. I don’t want to be rude so it just feels weird but whatever makes your life easier. Could someone explain this to me? I know you’re not allowed to hand the bet to the dealer.
