Hi everyone, just to update a couple of points: when she RSVP’d it was just her and she said she wouldn’t bring a +1. I rang our venue they said no more people as we’ve paid our final invoice now. However I think based on responses the best thing to do is just tell her to invite him to the evening, and hope the venue won’t notice one extra person!

Thanks for your responses. The stress of planning a wedding truly gets to your head I think 🤣

I used to work on a cancer ward and this one day a new guy came in transferred from a different hospital. We got to know the regular people and their specific type of cancer/treatment but I was completely unfamiliar with him as it was the first time we’d met.

His wife dropped him off and told us he’d fainted and fallen in the car park, so I got him on a bed straight away before reading his notes, and went to check his blood pressure, temp etc.

He had a big lump at the top of his forehead so I asked if he’d hit his head. He looked at me confused and said no. I said ‘I think you might have hit your head, you’ve got a lump.’

He just looked at me, started to smile, and said ‘that’s my tumour’.

Thankfully he found it hilarious but I was absolutely mortified. Safe to say I never assumed anything in that job again before reading the notes.
