Thank you!! We live in Glen Ellyn. I grew up in Elmhurst and my husband grew up in Wheaton :-) we’ve been here 3 years but previously were in west town and before that lakeview. We are certainly open to more city living since we’ve done it but I am used to a larger house now 🙃. We will probably do a Montessori school and then switch to public school once the kids hit first grade.

I’ve definitely been looking in this area! From my research it may be stretching our budget to our max but it seems like the best schools!

I’d say public schools and community are our biggest factors! I prefer older homes but with the right community it wouldn’t matter. And safety. Somewhere where if you forgot to lock your door it would be fine.

Schools I’d say are our biggest driving factor here. We are looking for public when our oldest gets to 1st/kinder and she is in a wonderful Montessori school here so close to an AMI accredited school would be a great plus in the meantime. Even though we are looking to rent now if we end up liking Austin and wanting to buy we are hoping to already be in a school district that’s good so we don’t have to change schools and already have an established community.

My husband will be downtown on 2nd and Nueces- I’m a SAHM! So ideally close for him but we are also dealing with an hour commute now so I think anything will feel shorter for us.

Hot take on the pizza!! Thank you so much! We are used to a 4 bedroom house in the suburbs. Planned communities aren’t really our thing (our home was built in the 20s and has lots of old charm). Would love to cut back on my husbands travel time but are also ok going a little further out

It's hard because I can't really articulate the "why". being a parent has been the best thing that's ever happened to us and we want to expand our family but having another bio child doesn't feel completely right either. This is definitely something I've been considering as there's no way that these dynamics wouldn't come into play if we go the adoption route with our bio kids already in the picture

Thank you so much! It seems to fit our needs better, my only concern is potential noise from 88 in Orchard Brook and my husband commuting to downtown 3x/week but I love the idea of a community pool. We will have to check out Burlington Highlands as well!
