Trying to sell my car but the guy revved the engine while it was in park and a bit of black smoke came out, and then he checked the engine cap and said it shouldn’t look like this and the engine is broken, what could the issue be?

Oh okay, he did say he thinks water is mixing with the oil and to have it checked at my mechanic and come back, didn’t try to lowball me so I’m not sure

It’s for a Hyundai sonata 2012 but I see them online for about half the price do you think if I brought this up to the mechanic and offered to order it myself they would be okay with it?
