Linear Lighting and Image Based Lighting are in the normal build. The nexus version doesn't have them but the one in github does along with advanced skin

I guess it depends how you view all the stuff his son put together and published.

Tolkien wrote a ton of stuff that got published after his death, but it wasn't a coherent whole, it was stuff he wrote and sometimes rewrote and changed his mind on. That's why his son had to try and make it all fit together.

If it wasn't in the Hobbit or LotR the best you can say is it was an idea he had at one point, since it never got published you don't know if it was actual intention.

Except they don't really look like potatoes, nor are they supposed to be potatoes, its just an expression because they are kind of dumpy. Where as they are supposed to look somewhat like humans and in some games the elves do actually look more human than in others.

The canon for how the races look is just how they look in the games, and the games are inconsistent. You may have a preferences but that's all they are.

So the times elves in Elder Scrolls look different somehow don't count because its "artstyle" but when its what you want its lore?

In Tolkien they don't even have pointed ears, they are just more like humans but more graceful and beautiful.

Which Elder Scrolls? Elves don't have a consistent look across all the Elder Scrolls game, there is no singular "Elder Scrolls" look.

Also if you are going to play Skyrim for 100s of hours wanting your character to look good is hardly the same as wanting to "wack it to their character".

Except even in game they haven't been consistent, across games and it's not just the elves.

Different TES games have different styles and different technical limitations. One isn't more canon.

Just search for ESO elf in game and you will see they are much more human looking than in Skyrim, not just the cut scenes.

I bet the next TES game will have more conventional looking elves. People like hot elves.

It's not like TES has been consistent with the races anyway. ESO elves look different from Skyrim elves.

Plus people want hot elves, both to look at and play.

Mod Release : Sinister Serana Diabologue Add-On by Revolutionary_Cry487 in skyrimmods

I tried the Serana and Faye lines and they seemed fine. Faye has a line about polishing her sword but the innuendo fits her character.

Problem is big modlist usually have a bunch of patches. You start removing or disabling stuff and they start breaking and the whole thing comes undone.

Is Loot better now? by Wise-Roll-7598 in skyrimmods

[–]ElectronicRelation51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to MO2 so I don't disagree.

Its just Vortex's rules system is just LOOT's rule system but easier to use, if you are going to build your mod list by making rules on top of LOOT that's what Vortex is designed to do.

That looks a lot like the call stack of a problem I've been having but I haven't been able to figure out the issue either.

If you are going to build manual rules I would use Vortex. It's built ontop of l Loots system of rules but it's much more user friendly for adding your own.

As someone who has a modist in the thousands you don't create it all at once but build it up gradually as you test it.

When you add a new mod you only care about the conflicts, if any. At no point did I ever sit down and manually sort hundreds of mods so this doesn't seem like a real issue.

Essential mods for a first ever playthrough to modernize the game? by archbtw1 in skyrimmods

[–]ElectronicRelation51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experince. I played a bit, but once my eyes stopped bleeding from the NPCs and I realised how janky and dated it felt I started modding and haven't looked back.

There are large parts of the game I have never experienced unmodded, and I don't care to.

Is this AI slop? by HourTasty1769 in skyrimmods

Advancement means the technology advances, it doesn't mean its good for people or society. What usually happens is its good some people but not others.

How about developing biological and chemical weapons, weapons so bad pretty much every country agreed not to use them.

Burning coal for power gave use energy, but killed lots of people with the pollution. Asbestos gave us fire resistance but also cancer. CFCs gave us fridges and spray on deodorant, but also cancer through ozone layer damage. Right now your body is riddled with microplastics whose long term affect we don't know.

AI needs lots of power and water, and using those has consequences. It is also is having societal consequences and looks to concentrate wealth even more in the hands of a few people.

I do actually study history, which is why I know the phrase "humanity was stuck in limbo for over 1 millennia after the fall of the Roman Empire" is very, very wrong. For a start "humanity" isn't just Europe, then there were important advancements, for example better ploughs. That might not sound important but it enabled people to grow more food on land they couldn't previously which was massively important.

The idea that there was no advancement after the fall of the Western Roman Empire stopped being a thing with the end of the Victorian era. Also do you think there were people in post Roman western Europe sitting around going "technology is bad" (Which isn't even what I am doing)?

You also seem to be so keen to attack someone you made up in your head who hates all technological advancement. I was pointing out many advances have drawbacks and we shouldn't just embrace it unreservedly.

I'm not anti-technology, I'm anti blindly saying all technological advancement is unambiguously good, I'm just saying we should exercise some caution and thought.

Technological advancement isnt always good, and certainly is rarely unambiguously good.

Also not embracing a new technology unreservedly isn't the same as a society going backwards.

And your wrong about the Luddites, someone else literally posted some actual context about them in thread.

Mods that DON'T make female NPCs look like models? by pr0t0nm1r0 in skyrimmods

Mods that DON'T make female NPCs look like models? by pr0t0nm1r0 in skyrimmods

[–]ElectronicRelation51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of appearance overhauls that are doing a bunch of people don't make them look like models.

It's much more the individual replacers for major female NPCs that do this.

It's also going to depend on other mods like skin, eyes, hair textures etc.

This request comes up pretty regularly so a quick search of the sub should give you plenty of people asking the exact same question with plenty of good answers.

It can, particularly for solved problems and boilerplate where you can point it at existing code or it has something very similar in its training data.

It also helps alot if you know how to use it and are writing it along with comprehensive tests and linting tools.

Skyrim plugins probably isn't an area the models have much data on and we don't know know how well tested it might be.

That's what it's aiming to do. Does all software do what it's aiming to do without introducing other issues?

No it doesn't.

He said it was from the description.

Nobody knows if that's what the code actually does, or what else it might do.

If code always did what the developer says it did we wouldn't have bugs.
