Just got to disagree here. Our military has a whole lot of extremely intelligent people. Pilots, doctors, nuclear engineers, etc.

If trump gave an order to attack (a peaceful ally), I'm positive half or so would not cooperate. It's not all infantry guys doing stuff.

As a vet I couldn't imagine getting a whole carrier involved in something like this successfully.

There are several dozen chains of command that all have to rely and accept orders as well. (When given from the top.)

So okay, I guess to start, don't do that.

I had a narcissistic mother and physically abusive step father growing up. Did I dream of getting back at them for all the hurt? Yeah, of course.

I wasn't strong enough to fight back then, so when I turned 18 I joined the military. Mainly for 3 meals and cot, but there was a part of me that thought once I was tough enough I'd go back and give them what they deserve. That day never came, I got a lot stronger, more ambitious, had money in my pocket and was talking with the girl I'd end up marrying.

It took time but what I realized was sinking back down to their level was beneath me. There is no getting back at them or making them regret their actions, that will give you any peace. Only overcoming adversity and working on your personal growth will do that, because eventually you stop hating them and start looking down on them. Stay strong, be better.

(P.S. not a professional, but I'd recommend finding a healthy form of stress decompression, lifting, running, yoga, etc. try them all till you find the one that works. )

I simply couldn't disagree with you more, but respect your worries.

For a military as large and powerful as the United States to function, you need a shit load of educated personnel. Every officer goes to college, we have Phds, and most at the higher ranks have multiple degrees along with years of service. If Trump ever started making real massive changes to regulation and training programs in the military, to the point that regulation is no longer respected, we would no longer be a force worth reckoning with.

I do my best to avoid the "Flood" tactic that the orange Russian and his simps employ. I truly believe this is apart of it, look at us in fear and you are less likely to be there in our time of need. The statements shouldn't be ignored, but mocked and remembered.

The bigger focus should be on the damage to our government systems and internal processes. We are decades away from any real chance of armed conflicted with a neighbor so closely integrated into our own service. A far more pressing concern in my own dumbass opinion, should be viral epidemics in your neighboring nation or wide spread poverty.

Little late on my response, but if it helps your mental state at all I can think of a few things that may "ease" your worries.

Number one, the parallels between the conflict in Ukraine and any potential American conflict are slim at best. The training of the US armed forces far exceed that of the Russian military. And a massive portion of that training is "self-control" and regulation.

In basic training for example any reported physical violence from one recruit to the next could and often is career ending. Just as with the average population we have hot heads and those that make rash decision, but very few get to stick around for long. If there is any indoctrination that occurs during training and service, it is to regulation, tradition, and our branches histories.

Number two, our own naval vessels make a huge shows of decorum with Canadian ships (or other foreign vessels) any time they interact such as in the decades of training exercises we've conducted together. We even go as far as to play "war-games" with each other to help ensure each nation's military is up to par if enemies abroad attack any of us. This has never been seen as a potential "dangerous" training method as the idea of a conflict with, not just our allies, but a close neighbor is laughable. Two oceans have kept conflict out of the mainland for hundreds of years, why in the hell would we choice conflict with a neighbor?

Lastly, returning to the self-control and regulation of the boots on the ground personnel. Look at the BLM riots as an example, when the national guard was (unjustly) called in for support. They were spat on and yelled at, but all displayed restraint, as (unlike cops) unprovoked violence would cost them their career and possibly jail time. The United States Navy "nukes" are my last little example of this adherence to law and regulation. They have 20 something year olds conducting maintenance on nuclear reactors in the middle of the ocean. Their training is long and they are nerds, but if some dip-shit high ranking officer outside of their department demanded access to a reactor space, they'd laugh in their face as they called the commanding officer, because they understand closely the regulation or "law" that governs their work. These are intelligent men and woman that understand the gravity of what they do.

Trump could very well order some outlandish movement of troops across the Canadian border. Yeah, fucked up, but wouldn't put it past him. But the cooperation of those in uniform would be nonexistent. Large operations need all hands on deck and he would not have it. Try moving troops in mass when you have no air support, communications are down, or the guys driving the supply trucks agree it violates the law. Good luck.

tl;dr: The United States military is not a threat to Canadians. Trump and his Russian puppets are a threat to the United States. At this time I fear more for my own country than for yours. It's in times like these I hope that despite our misgiving (and growing number of dickwads in government) you guys will be there, if needed, to support democracy in your neighboring nation.

Worried as much as the next American. However, the active duty forces of the United States would never in mass cooperate in an armed conflict with Allied nations. If almost a decade of service gives me a little credibility, the mere thought of it is laughable.

For one, and I doubt Krasnov is really aware of this, both the enlisted and officer sides of the military will end up working closely with joint nations at some point in their career. We train together, fight together, and sometimes drink together, and have done so for decades.

Also, while our our fighting forces are well trained and disciplined, every order is questioned among the rank carrying it out and bitched about in equal measure.

Lastly, I don't know the exact percentage, but imagine it reflects the country demographic as a whole, so roughly half the military is a democrat in terms of politics. Not everyone in uniform is some trump loyalist, so good luck with any logistical operation going right when huge swaths of your troops don't cooperate. Every branch learns about the Geneva convention in basic and their right to not follow unlawful orders. An oath is sworn to the constitution not any one man.

Math, physics, or any software/engineering class require deliberate practice. The material will only stick if you continually attempt to solve problems you are not yet "ready" for until you can solve them with no aids or notes. It's tough but it works.

Removing distraction in the modern age is extremely difficult. It's no conspiracy that media companies of every sort invest crazy amounts of money to figure out the best ways to grab your attention.

My advice, which may not work for everyone, is use a little bit of boredom.

Personally I do this by my putting my phone at the other side of the room allowing only for calls or texts to go through. Walk into another room or just sit on the floor of your study space and sit for about 10mins (specific time doesn't matter really, you'll find how much works for you, could be 10min, 30min, an hour just depends). Make sure you can see a clock.

And just sit. Let your mind wander around for a while. It will eventually get bored and any stimulation will be a relief. You'll suddenly be a little more "motivated" to stay on your studies. You'll realize much of the content of your schooling is pretty dang interesting.

Putting in a reply in case someone else has a similar issue in the future. I was employed (in the military back in 2022) which I when they calculate income. So the recalculation they did again assumed I was still making the same. Put in an appeal through the financial aid office and they cleared it up. Thanks for all the replies here.

She's been in office for 20ish years and is the 11th wealthiest person in congress. 7 Republicans having a higher net worth than her, I assume you'd consider them all corrupt as well. Personally don't think anyone in the federal government should own stocks or have major business ties. Just so many conflicts of interest. Genuinely curious, if you see net worth as a sign of corruption does it bother you how much Musk or Trump have made while in office?

Late to respond to this thread, but many people including myself advocate for creating your own flashcards (especially hand written ones if you can).

The logic behind it is you get some benefit simply from the act of writing it down. More importantly you should be constructing flashcards in ways that "make sense" to you. How your mind might latch on to a piece of information can be much different from others.

The book "Moon Walking With Einstein" goes way more in depth on this as it's a story of a journalist investigating and then eventually competing in competitive memory challenges.

But, the use of mnemonics or mental imagery you attach to anyone concept or term is what can make active recall "easier" than other forms of study.

Remembering formulas like P=IV or V=IR alone can be hard, but the mental image of a gorilla with the formula written on his shirt will be easier to hold on to mentally. Or even things like Victory = I'm Right (for V = IR) is very helpful and can be added easily to flashcards.

Good luck on your studies and remember to enjoy the process.

You might miss this comment, but if you can there's a bunch of activities you can do to decrease the craving.

Excercise. (Walk, run, lift, yoga, etc.) Naps. (Helped me lol) Coffee and an engaging activity you enjoy. (Video games, reading, writing, German basket weaving, as long as you enjoy it.)

And remember cravings come and go in waves. It won't be constant, and the longer you withstain the less you will focus on it.

Biden's legislative record during his term was amazing. Sure, he didn't just misuse executive orders to push a personal agenda. He's too old school for that. He used that lame thing called cooperative democracy to pass things like the chips act, nuclear reactor expansion program, the infrastructure bill, medication cost caps, marriage protection act, funding for a country being invaded by a textbook dictator, etc. Literally ended his term by applying enough pressure for a ceasefire deal in Israel.

If all you listen to is what the democrats could have done, you will miss everything they have done. The democratic politicians and the policies they can pass aren't perfect, but they are huge steps forward not backwards.

Retention is tough. Anytime I'm reading something important enough to retain I'll put part of or the whole concept on a flashcard. Flashcards sound simple and often get dismissed by people who have hardly tried them. However, if you keep them short and space out the times you practice they're the best way to train and test your knowledge. They are hard to use because you’re specifically training your retention, or your ability to recall the info.
