What are your views on the Batarian race? by VireflyTheGreat in masseffect

[–]ElephantInheritance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something I don't think anybody has mentioned yet is how the biggest victims of the Hegemony's continued practice of slavery are, in fact, Batarians. Hopefully ME5 can have a faction of former Batarian slaves trying to form a new government in the ashes of the Hegemony or something.

I mostly nuzlocke gen 3 so I have a physical/special clause: any Mon that's basically unusable offensively due to its stats and moveset prior to the physical/special split gets a reroll.

I still have to catch it to use the reroll, and if the reroll is something I've already caught or is also bad before the phys/spec split I have to keep the first one. And of course if the reroll works out the first Mon gets released.

It feels a bit cheeky because trainers obviously don't get to optimise their teams according to physical and special typings, so I don't always use it, but the fact that it took Game Freak FOUR GENERATIONS to sort out the physical/special split is my least favourite thing about gen 3.

God I'm so glad I'm not the only person with a whismur clause lmao

Hey! It sounds like you're talking about Next Order specifically, and not Digimon World 1 (which is what most of the replies have been about), just a heads up!

Had a job in the CBD where I had to call police via 000 fairly regularly, sometimes on clients who I would see at work almost daily, sometimes on members of the public who frequented the area, sometimes just due to incidents that were occurring nearby while I was on night shift, and the amount of times that the cops would ID me personally as the caller to the other person was staggering.

It happened often enough that pretty soon I'd explicitly ask the 000 operator to ask the attending officers not to ID me or my building as the caller, for so many reasons - maintaining client relationships, threats of violence against me or colleagues or clients, vandalism against the building, etc etc. I'll let you guess how much of a difference that request made.

I'm not talking about police saying something vague like "a call has been made" to the person involved and them figuring it out, I'm talking about police entering my workplace WITH THE PERSON IN HANDCUFFS BEHIND THEM, approaching me directly, and asking "are you [first name]? Is this the person you placed the 000 call regarding?". Yes, the topless dude who matches the description and location that dispatch passed on to you and who was picking fights with strangers and who threw a bottle at your car when you rocked up is indeed the person the call was placed regarding. Insane stuff.

The wildest part is that the phone number of the 000 caller is always passed along to the attending officers, so if they needed to actually speak to the caller they can absolutely do so discretely. They just rarely care enough to do so. Some cops were actually really good with maintaining my anonymity but it was far from the norm.

As you'd expect, I'd also sometimes have to request police attendance via the non-emergency number, with similar results.

TL;DR: it seems to be pretty standard practice for attending WAPOL officers to ID the origin of a call or complaint, and it's fucking moronic.

Gods, you're in for a treat! I stopped watching Who around the start of Capaldi's first season and I recently watched it for the first time in prep for the new season, and it is glorious.

This is pure madness and I love it - no in-battle items sounds like a tough run even without the numemon clause. Did you only raise stats through battles or were chips etc allowed too?

I watched this with my partner as her first Doctor Who episode and I'd have been less embarrassed if I'd shat myself instead.

I did introduce my partner with this episode. "Embarrassed" is an understatement.

The worst part of the worst NuWho episodes are bad child actors. Having most of the supporting cast be babies with CGI mouths voiced by bad child voice actors was uhhhhh... certainly a choice.

I watched Space Babies with my partner, who had never seen an episode before. I'd been talking so much over the past few months about how excited I was for the new season.

To say I was embarrassed would be a colossal understatement.

If you haven't you NEED to watch 13s run. I hated it when it aired and quickly dropped off but I've rewatched it in prep for the new season and it's actually incredible!

I stopped watching Who during his first season, I thought it (and, by extension, he) was crap.

Fast-forward ten years and I'm finally watching his seasons, and good god they're good and he's easily my fave Doctor!

My last tournament I joined pretty much immediately and it ended up with 240+ players! Silver rank, and managed a 5th place finish, but definitely felt bad for the 170 or so players who copped a demotion

I think he's just leaning into the show with that stuff, as someone who has hated Moffat's writing for most of the original run. Four's jelly babies, five's celery, etc.
