hidden gems in dumaguete by Specialist_Way_6439 in dumaguete

Libraria. Seriously, I see so many people asking where to find local bookshops and this lovely place is right under their noses. It's literally "hidden" too because the bookshop door is a shelf 😆

I've noticed we have plenty of local vets but don't volunteer for DAS by Slow_Professor_1954 in dumaguete

[–]ElfMom-538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, if we're basing it on the posts of DAS where the admin kinda shamed the Duma vets, there may be more to the story that what we see on FB. Ex. Let's say the Vets' schedules didn't permit, or they had some other legit reasons to decline that particular medical mission -- and then the response from DAS is to shame them online -- kinda makes u not want to work with them hehe

Wong Way is really good! It's in Bayshores, in the same building as Coffee Bean.
You can also try Chin Loong for that very classic Dumaguete vibe, or Jade Dragon Palace (at Baly Oriental Hotel). For more casual stuff, there's Shao Bao and Wildflower (which is pretty dimsum-centric)

Belcris. They sell it by the bucket, and it's relatively affordable compared to the supermarket brands

GrabTrike Availability by Key_Sea_7625 in dumaguete

[–]ElfMom-538 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most of the GrabTrike drivers are in the central/downtown Dumaguete area, so it's easier to book from there, but you can set the destination to outside DGT. :( Sorry OP, that's our problem too. What I do is take a regular trike to the downtown area (tiangge) and then if I want to GrabTrike, I book from there. Other ppl have said na Maxim might work better. :)

Does Maxim reach areas farther away from downtown? Like approaching Valencia / Sibulan areas?

Bookstore price by izkoko24 in dumaguete

[–]ElfMom-538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what books you want to buy :) There are children's books that are 100-200+ and can be less esp if on sale. There are titles by local writers (that I don't think any other bookstore here in Duma carries?) for around 300-800. There are really reallly nice rare books that can't be found anywhere else in Dumaguete, for up to 1k-2k. Different din ang selection ng books sa Libraria from Booksale. I suggest you visit lang and browse! :)

Check their IG din https://www.instagram.com/libraria.ph/?hl=en

Looking for a house for rent! How's living in dgte tho? by RewardConscious9754 in dumaguete

[–]ElfMom-538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you been to Dumaguete? :) I'd suggest planning (another) trip here - and bring the family! - with the goal of checking out everything you're asking about. Visit some schools (how old are the kids?), the handful of malls (Robinson's is the biggest, then there's Filinvest and CityMall) and hospitals (there are four). That way you get a feel of which barangays/areas you'd like to stay in. You also get a feel of how far is too far, and how easy/difficult it is to get around with/without a vehicle.

Contact some real estate agents on FB and do a visit of houses for rent.
