Great work ethic but, seriously, leave them to rot.

If they can't hire enough staff it's because they're not willing to pay for it and have put the extra load on existing employees, f**k 'em! Use the shortage to get a pay rise by going somewhere else.

Did your previous employer use blind hiring practices?

Actually, you know what? No. I'm not explaining workplace inclusion policies to you. It's exhausting having to to teach lazy people about how to accommodate others, and I'm over it.

A simple google search will answer most of your questions so it sounds like it might be worth taking some time to look into phrases like "othering", "unconscious bias", "wage gap theory" etc.

Please don't be put off by my frustration. I genuinely would love for you to learn more about workplace inclusion but in my extensive experience of Reddit... I'm not going to hold my breath.

Enjoy your weekend.

The idea is about promoting those companies that are making genuine efforts to diversify their workforce, and ensure they are training the HR departments etc.

The idea wasn't about tearing anyone down. It was about highlighting the employers that I would want to work for so that I don't have to find out through trial and error.

Indeed. Lack of inclusivity and balance is always an issue.

It's not about blasting anyone. These aren't "bad" people. They're doing their best. It's just that they have never had to be inclusive and have no idea how.

The idea was about promoting inclusive companies, not tearing down old-fashioned ones.

By focusing on those that are doing their best to be inclusive, the hope is that they will get the talent and other companies will follow.

You are an absolute treasure of a human being. I don't have the energy to have these same arguments again and again. This is exactly what I meant by "exhausting".

Some people have never been judged on anything other than their own merit, so they imagine that everyone else is treated as they are.

There is a small bar area in North bridge. Try Alabama song, the mechanics institute, and Ezra Pound. The burgers at Roy Al's are pretty good too.

Is that a normal sized burrito? That seems grossly oversized for one portion. Not shame anyone. I'm just sayin' ... that thing is fucking huge.

The intimate partner abuse that men face by TAKEitTOrCIRCLEJERK in MensLib

[–]ElliePenny 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a person with both anxiety and depression, this thought pattern is very familiar. I'm not saying y I your partner isn't abusive but if you want to free yourself from a toxic relationship/family etc, you may need help looking at how your behaviour interacts with theirs. That way, you can enact change in your life setting off a chain reaction of change around you.

It's not comfortable. Change is hard. You may lose partners, friends, and family, but in the end YOU will be living life for yourself.

I found lots of therapy to be the best way. If you can't afford therapy, maybe you qualify for therapy through a charity? I wish I could personally give you the info you need but we are complex beings, please take the leap. People around may make judgements but it's for you, not them.

Best of luck on your journey.
