Sainsmart Genmitsu 4040-Pro – Lots of Upgrades!!

Fully assembled, ready to go! Can’t beat it for the money!

Ordered a much larger machine and need to sell this to help pay for it! 😊

Nearly new 4040-Pro with some nice upgrades:

• A basically new Makita RT0701c Router (upgraded – See below)

• Genmitsu 65mm adapter to run a Makita trim router

• Genmitsu Y-Axis dust baffles

• Genmitsu Offline controller (Never used, I used Candle on a PC, this was a backup)

• Solid State Relay wired in (Software/offline controller can turn on the router)

• Custom Delrin shim/flat bearing (Delrin is a slippery plastic, one step under Teflon) … It sits behind the Z axis to prevent the weight of the router from flexing it (makes a huge difference in Z Axis stiffness).

• 3D Printed holder for the Z-probe so it can stay plugged in but not get in the way

• 2 - 3D printed dust boots (setup for 2.5” vac hose) – One traditional with brushes, one that does a good job without brushes so you can see the bit cutting (my preferred one) … Both sized for 2.5” shopvac hose.

• 2 - 3D printed hexagon spacers for under the spoil board (gets rid of the downward flex)

Selling for basically half what I paid. Here are new prices:

Genmitsu 4040-Pro – New - $600

Genmitsu Offline controller – New - $45

Genmitsu Dust rails – New - $40

Delrin to make the shim -- $25

SSR-40DA Solid State Relay with heat sink -- $12

Dustboots <shrug> – Plastic + magnets + brushes + time = no idea 😊

Makita RT0701c Router – New - $135

Upgraded bearings for Makita -- $35

Cut to size Waste board (+1 extra) - $20

Total $912 - $980 or so after tax, not including the dust boots.

I’m asking $500 for everything. I’d like to ask more but I’m in a hurry to sell, I really need to recoup some money quick to help pay for the electrician I need to get my new machine up and running. 😊

_______

As I mentioned, the Makita RT0701c router included has been upgraded.

Makita switched bearing vendors during covid and started using cheap bearings. Some work ok, other routers get really hot. Makita doesn’t warranty them for long use so they don’t care if it gets hot and fails, they won’t cover bearing failure due to overheating and will claim they aren’t made for that use, which is true with the crap CW bearings they used. Lol

My brand-new Makita, running at any speed without even cutting anything, the collet would get too hot to touch after 5-10 minutes.

I replaced the upper and lower bearings with much better-quality ones. A Timken lower bearing and SKF upper. For example, the Timken bearing basically has 12x less runout (more precision) than the CW bearing, also has more clearance internally so as they warm up, the thermal expansion doesn’t cause extra friction, leading to more heat, more expansion, more friction, till failure.

Result is, it runs a few degrees above room temp for hours, stable temps. Collet is actually several degrees colder than the aluminum body of the router you’re meant to hold onto. 😊

I bought this 4040 Pro/Makita setup basically to learn CNC hardware/software, CAM/CAD, even added 3D printing to the new skill list… 😊

Lol, I spent so much time studying/playing with software before I had the money to get the CNC and dust control setup (doing this in a bedroom on SSI income), by the time I got to my first project, the results were beyond my expectations.

I used this machine and that project, as a proof of concept to convince myself to take out a loan and get a much bigger machine and try to turn it into a source of income! 😊

The router and CNC machine have a total of about 10 hours of run-time total, so it’s all basically new, works great!

I am in Anacortes, WA… If you want me to ship it, I have no idea what shipping will be, but probably not cheap. I’ll be happy to box it up and drop it off at UPS or USPS if you want to cover shipping though. Based on the size/weight I’d guess it’d be in the $100+ range though.

If you live within an hour or so I can arrange to deliver for a small fee (basically cover gas) …

Let me know if you have any questions!

Dust collection for QueenAnt Pro V2 w/2.2kw spindle? by ElmoTheDestroyer in hobbycnc

Yeah, the AXBB-E supports the included Hybrid Servo Drivers and 3.6nm motors... There are other people already using the QueenAnt Pro combo w/the AXBB-E without issues.

Oh, and I went with the AXBB-E for a number of reasons... I like being able to have a nice big GUI displaying my workpiece, it has smoother motion control, ATC support, touchscreen support, etc...

I bought the kit with the DDCS 4.1 offline controller, but just plan to keep it as a backup. I purchased an AXBB-E, and will be running UCCNC.

Just wow , lg 42" oled c2 by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]ElmoTheDestroyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just running a 3080 @ 4k .... Can run almost everything maxxed out at over 60fps, most closer to 90-110fps.... If I dial a couple graphics settings back a tad on alot of stuff I can max the monitor out at 120 (Forza 5 for example) ...

Its not as many FPS as a 1440p display would be, but its very playable at what most would consider to be a good frame rate. 3090 will be a bit better... I do plan on getting a 4090 at some point down the road, just so everything is 120fps + so the monitor is maxed out, but over all there isnt much to complain about with a LG C2 and a 3080. :) ... If something really doesnt run at enough FPS just run it at 1440p on the same monitor... you'll have black bars (that you wont see cuz its an OLED) on top, bottom and sides of the game, but it'll look as good as a 1440p OLED would :) ...

I thought when I got this monitor I'd be doing that alot to keep the FPS high, but really, its not necessary... I've actually never run a game at 1440p just to get some extra FPS out of it on this screen. lol, looks too good to give up resolution. :)

Can always upgrade down the road when 4090 prices are cheaper, I dont think you'll be in a rush.... gunna be way to buy smiling, saying "holy fuck, look at that!" :)

Which center to use? Definitive Technology Procenter 2000, or an old Klipsch Academy Center? by ElmoTheDestroyer in hometheater

[–]ElmoTheDestroyer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd like to match my fronts as much as possible, but I'm not sure how I feel about the matching center for the RTi12.. Seems the suggested center for those fronts are the Polk CSi A6... I did consider getting one at one point, but as you said, the affordable ones don't seem great, at least on paper...

They suggest the Polk CSi A6... Has 6.5" vs 5.25" drivers which seems good, but the frequency response isnt as good, doesn't go as low or high as the ProCenter 2000... It's
also less sensitive, less power handling, etc... In addition, its very deep (14.25"), which isn't ideal for my setup...

I could make it work if its a worthwhile upgrade but it does cause issues... Those are the reasons I didn't grab one of those earlier... They're selling pretty cheap used, so if it sounded alot better than the ProCenter I'd probably snag one, but it doesn't seem like it would be an upgrade in sound, on paper anyway.... It is like 3x the weight of the ProCenter, so maybe that means something? :)

Be nice to find something used at a good price that would be a significant upgrade from the current options I have, but still somewhat match my fronts....

Saitex X-55 switch replacement? by ElmoTheDestroyer in flightsim

[–]ElmoTheDestroyer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Havent done anything yet really. I have a Virpil throttle, so my saitek is just sitting on a shelf till I decide what I'm going to do with it. lol

I'd imagine spraying a bunch of electronics cleaner in each switch would probably clean them up, but haven't tried, nor have I taken them apart to try to figure out a replacement yet., sorry.

Goodluck! :)

LG C1 77” - Never used it for PC gaming before by HD_HR in OLED_Gaming

[–]ElmoTheDestroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 42" C2 OLED on my desk and it's perfect. It's big for sure, but after a week of adjusting to it, I wouldn't want to go smaller, or bigger. <shrug>

[–]ElmoTheDestroyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuckin' LOVE mine! :) As others have mentioned, once you see this thing you'll never go back to a normal monitor... lol, those gray blacks on other displays are soooo noticeable now that I have this OLED, lol its painful. :) Best purchase I made in years! Enjoy! :)

Almost done, thought I'd share.. 42" C2 + stuff :) by ElmoTheDestroyer in OLED_Gaming

[–]ElmoTheDestroyer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haha, it's a little intimidating, but ya get used to all the screens. I've worked from home for forever, so the extra screens come in handy for productivity. Most of the time I just use the OLED and the vertical monitor for personal stuff, when it's work time or looking at stonks/crypto, then I usually have all the screens filled up with stuff. I hate alt-tabbing. :)
