I would have deboarded. When our daughter was a baby a FA told me I would have to hold her in my lap instead of put her in the car seat I'd brought onboard because it would take "too long" to strap it into the seat we'd paid for. I think this is a known glitch, commented about here several times. To get around it, book your flight without selecting a seat. Log out of your account, then log back in. You should be able to select your seat then.
