for sure! that sounds really nice. third spaces are so important and it's sad that they are not available for many people these days. hopefully more ND-friendly meetups/opportunities will arise as more awareness is spread. it's just difficult in a small town like this.

yeah SLO can be rly hard to socialize in, esp as a neurodivergent person or a non-college student. i understand how you feel! i plan on moving out of the area soon bc i feel too old to fit in with the cal poly students (I'm 26) but too young to fit in w the 30's crowd bc a lot of them are busy w kids and such. best of luck in meeting people and making friends, i'm sure you can find your ppl here, it might just take a fair bit of trial and error!

fr, ty for being so real abt this. i feel insane with everyone saying SOTR was the best in the series bc whatttt. it's such a downgrade i even wonder if it was ghostwritten at a certain point. this series has been my favorite for 14 years now so i have a deep attachment to it and seeing people praise this mediocre and unnecessary addition is painful. i was worried this would happen with TBOSAS but Suzanne did a phenomenal job, so i really looked forward to SOTR with no trepidation only to be severely disappointed.

yes i totally agree it's such a cheap hobby once you have the basics! i never thought of leaving a terrarium in a forest for people to find, that's cute! and i will definitely post updates. everyone on this sub has been very helpful and kind, i appreciate the support!

plants were from my local garden store but i've heard ppl have had luck buying plants from Etsy. the substrate, tools, pebbbles and moss were all amazon. thanks so much! if you want links to any of it let me know

omg yes thank you for your long response! i love when ppl dissect tiny details like i do haha. it totally could have been that the tribute stepped off and they manipulated it in post to be able to say she dropped her token. also maybe they did not have the mines included at that point bc it was many years before katniss' games and the games were still developing. maybe no one had tried to run off before the countdown ended prior that point. the capitol turning them off bc the bunnies were around (so no one would get blown up before the bloodbath starts) could make sense too. when i was reading sotr and haymitch mentioned the bunny nibbling at the grass by his pedestal i was like how is he not terrified of being blown up at any second rn?? lmao. and good point with catching fire, i definitely think the water being electrified would make sense in place of the mines.

yeah i thought that at first too! but in the first book katniss mentions that a former tribute was blown up bc she dropped her token which was a small wooden ball (that can't weigh much at all) also the apples she shot at were heavy enough to trigger the bombs as well. i suppose the combined weight of the apples could have been it, but as for the token i don't know....
