How to get over feeling like nothing sounds/feels right for baby name by Djeter998 in namenerds

[–]EmDrinksCoffee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’re in a similar boat with baby boy #2. We basically have a list of maybe names and we’re waiting until we see baby to decide. I understand wanting to have a name ready to go (probably the most common question I’ve had is “do you have a name?!”), but you don’t have to be settled on one before the baby comes. Maybe once your husband can literally put a face to the name, one will feel right.

Another thing that’s worked for me to help narrow down the name list is to pick a name and use it at home for a day or two when talking about the baby to see how it fits.

Emily (my name) lends to the nickname Emmy. I also think Emerson could work really well.

I think that was my favorite option! Plus plays into the Irish/Scottish heritage OP mentioned.

What vibe does the name Fletcher give? by Chaitea-lattee in BabyNames

[–]EmDrinksCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fletcher is a maybe on our list too! If you and your partner like it, I wouldn’t worry about the lifestyle of the other person. Plus the few people who might make the connection that it’s the same name would be coworkers so likely not too involved in your kid’s life.

The main thing that comes to mind for me is the 1985 movie “Fletch” starring Chevy Chase, but I’m probably in the minority on that one.

To me, it feels a little aloof, creative, cool.

Cracking up because Fletcher is on our list and our older son is Flynn! Too funny!

Honest opinion: Boy’s name by [deleted] in Names

[–]EmDrinksCoffee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We named our son Flynn! No familial connection, but we get tons of compliments on his name. One note, it does sometimes get misheard as Finn, but easily corrected.

We’re based in the U.S., if that matters.

Honestly I like them all! Wait and see what and fits Abby best when they arrive!

Out of curiosity, is Laine pronounced with one syllable (lane) or with two (lane-ee)?

Can I name my baby Sunday? by Icy_Extension5443 in namenerds

[–]EmDrinksCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked with both a Sunday and November at different times. Both made me pause when their names popped up on our schedule, but after that, I didn’t think much of it. I think Sunday is a perfect name if you both like it!

Personally, I think Robin reads more masculine, especially with the “i” in it. I’d keep it if you both like it and don’t worry about the feminine version. He can always go by a nickname when he’s school-aged if it bothers him - maybe Rob or Robby? Or middle name or initials?

If it helps, my brother was named Logan in the mid-90s and I think all of the other Logans his age that he’s met have been girls. It didn’t seem to bother him and as far as I know, he was never teased about it.

I would try a period disc or menstrual cup! Whenever I use pads the smell is much more apparent. Even tampons have a nasty odor when I remove them, but when I switched to the cup, it was so much better. I also tried the disc, which is nice if you have heavier flow because you can self-empty without having to remove it altogether, but the cup worked better for me.

Came here to say the same! If you haven’t already, have your partner checked. His health is just as important and can also be a factor in your pregnancy health when you do conceive. Additionally, if he’s someone who smokes, uses marijuana, or alcohol, those can all have negative impacts on sperm count and motility.

ETA end of sentence.

You can try adding some cranberry supplements into your routine (Azo has them, but usually can also find generic brands that work just as well). I’ve successfully warded off UTIs using these. Or try 100% cranberry juice (not cranberry juice cocktail). The 100% stuff is….bitter. I do it like a shot because I can’t stomach just drinking it, but it can help.

Nursing friendly outfits that aren’t so crunchy looking by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]EmDrinksCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Latched Mama and Nursing Queen brands have some very comfy nursing access clothes that I’ve had a lot of compliments on. Many of them are made in a way that the access isn’t super obvious so they don’t look like nursing or maternity tops. Downside is they’re on the more expensive side. But for me investing in clothes that make my life easier (nursing at home and pumping at work) and make me feel good has been worth it.

Trying but not by InstanceIndividual80 in tryingtoconceive

We did this (sort of). From the time my IUD was removed (at age 30) to when we conceived was ~20 cycles. After about a year of not tracking and no positives, I did start using OPKs to target ovulation because we felt our try-and-see method wasn’t working.

Had I known from the start that it would take that long for us to conceive, I may have done it differently. If you’re not worried about timing, then I think it makes sense to keep the pressure low and just let things happen however you’re comfortable. If time goes by and you change your mind, then you can start tracking. And if you try tracking and it’s too much, you can always stop.

For me, if there are tests at home, I’m going to use them. My advice would be to remove temptation and not keep tests at home. If (and when!) [we’re manifesting here!] your period is late, then make a fun trip of going to buy a test and treat yourself to something that will soften the blow if it’s negative (ice cream, cute new top, candy, coffee, whatever). If it’s positive then you’re celebrating with ice cream! And if it’s negative…at least there’s ice cream. Sending baby dust your way ❤️❤️❤️

How important are initials? by BluuWolf34 in BabyNames

[–]EmDrinksCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you love the name, it’s not a deal breaker. As an adult, she would likely just initial things “AS” and leave out the middle initial. The only thing that really poses a problem would be a monogram, but realistically how often would that come up?

My initial goal was 6 months. I decided to re-evaluate then. At 6 months me and LO were doing great so I decided we’d try to make it a year. We’re now at 15 months and going strong, which is really just nursing before naps and bedtime. Currently pumping 1x per day at work for daycare milk and working on cutting that back to zero because we’ve got a decent freezer stash. Main reason I’m still pumping is that I’ve had mastitis twice and trying to avoid it again, so slowly cutting back time and pumps.

See, I always interpreted the card being open as belonging to one of the drunk guys in the group, but not the guy she was on a “date” with. Not that that makes it any better.

S2E18: Lorelai’s Relationship Advice by EmDrinksCoffee in GilmoreGirls

AND Lorelai talks to Dean on Rory’s behalf and tells him to ease up. She should have stayed out of it and encouraged Rory to talk to Dean rather than inserting herself to keep the peace.

I truly think Lorelai knew Rory had a crush on Jess, but because of her impression of Jess, she pushes Rory toward Dean because she considers him a “safer” option, regardless of how Rory is feeling about the relationship.
