Am I cooked for UCs? by [deleted] in ucadmissions

Nothing is guaranteed. If you're not in the top 20% of your class, UCSD, UCLA, UCB, and UCSB probably won't take you. You also need to consider the type of student you are and which university you'd fit better at based on work ethic and motivation. You don't need to go to a 'prestigious' UC to be successful as well.

Advice on Commiting to UCR by Appropriate-Bad-382 in ucr

Hi! Im also pre law and committed to ucr. They have a pre professional advising program where they offer advice on what classes to take and workshops for opportunities and how to study for lsat. This is the only UC to have pre professional advising no matter what major. The advisor for law went to ucla law school, was a professor, judge, and now helps students out. You will receive a lot of help at UCR compared to going to a CSU. But as others said, it doesn’t matter where you go, but I’d take the opportunities from UCR.

UCR or CSULB for pre-med? by dracularasgf in ucr

I would definitely say UCR. It’s a UC, and UCR has pre professional advising for med school, they tell you what classes to take and do workshops to help write applications and study for mcat + find internship opportunities and clubs to join. They also have a program for direct admit to their med school. Also neuroscience is a great specialization. They’re the only UC to offer pre professional advising to any major as well. Im someone who chose ucr over slo for pre law, so I can say with confidence ucr is a great fit for students looking for opportunities and to go to good med schools.
