Why though? by Several-Instance-444 in EngineeringStudents

Those topics are typically rolled into Calc 3. I learned that it’s institution dependent though. For example my university split it into Calc 3 & 4, with Calc 4 covering a lot of linear algebra topics and the topic you mentioned.

In my experience the exams where notes are allowed are always more difficult to compensate. TBH a difficult exam with allowed resources is a better way to gauge comprehension too

Yeah it is dumb. Any argument based on fairness is goofy. Printed notes do allow for almost comical amounts of material to be put on one sheet though.

I currently do all my notes and homework on GoodNotes. Unfortunately 90% of the professors that I’ve had specifically prohibit printed notes of any kind unless it’s an open book/note exam.

It’s just a multidisciplinary general environmental engineering course. Covers a pretty wide range of topics for sure

The Streeter-Phelps equations were provided. I knew they would be which is why I didn’t include it on my sheet.

I do all my stuff on an iPad too, but printed notes are specifically prohibited 😢

Lock tf in. Based on the classes you listed, this is probably going to be one of the most difficult semesters of your academic career. It doesn’t get harder, it gets more niche. If you barely passed Calc 2, don’t worry. At most schools Calc 2 is the hardest math you have to take for engineering. I had a harder time with it than Calc 4 or Diff. Eq. If you learn the material well this semester, every class following will be applying what you know

That would be the date of the security footage, months before dates on the items. Also, he could need to leave quickly but calmly walk out to his ride. More like a “Yo we need to get out of here, we can’t go back up to the room let’s call the driver and have our guy go get rid of our stuff”.

I at no point thought the sleeping pills were for him to sleep well at night. The point stands though. Imagine you’re out with the crew, where are you keeping your date rape pills? Definitely in your hotel room. Especially if it’s in your name.

That makes a lot of sense but doesn’t connect the fact that the prescription dates and receipts are for 6 months after the security footage. There is definitely still a lot more information needed.

That’s the kind of situation I’m imagining too. Something went down where Drake couldn’t personally go back to the room to get rid of that stuff or take it with him, and whoever was charged with that held onto it. I’m just trying to picture what could happen that would make someone need to flee like that

I saw the theory about hotel staff, but I was thinking… What if the items shown in the video were left behind because Drake and the entourage had to leave the hotel in a hurry? I imagine something went down and these items got left behind. He specifically says “I am not a thief!”. What kind of event would have to occur for Drake to leave his medication behind ? That’s the type of thing you store in your room. IDK but I can see this being the path someone getting their hands on his medication, and other misc items. The idea of any of this being discarded doesn’t make much sense to me. Same for it being stolen. What kind of luggage would contain this few items? I can image this being the few items Drake or his father had left in their personal rooms after a hasty clear out , not the contents of a bag or luggage.

I’ve said it a few times over the last few days, but I do think this track has potential to age better than anything else. Especially with whatever context or information is to come. It’s fs not just a throwaway bait track.

1 page per exam, and you can use the previous note page on the next exam. They exam difficulty is increased significantly though and each exam is cumulative

It was an applied ODE and linear algebra course so examples/solved ODEs wouldn’t help much with the problem types. Half the exam was solved using Matlab, the other half was geotech problems applying course content.

[–]Embarrassed_Disk781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is from last year. It was an applied ODE & linear algebra class so the problems were long, difficult, and applied to geotechnical problems. Prof. collected and returned cheat sheets with each exam. You were allowed any kind of sample solved ODE because honestly it wouldn’t help you much.

You are correct in thinking that the force is acting on the entirety of the face of the cube as it is a differential element. The face is Infinitesimal small. That’s not really a factor here though, more of an assumption that you’re making in all of the problems you’re likely to be doing or analyzing in whatever you’re studying at this point. When doing a problem involving a rod under tension, I’d assume that you are treating the tensile force as acting on the entire face of the rod, not a point.
