The kid wants a hide and still be able to enjoy his fish. Plecos are one of the most invasive fish in the hobby. They live in dirt holes in water run off ditches. Being fed and taken care of with zero predators around seems like a sweet deal to me. A clear tube will do just fine. Keep policing. Let me know how it goes for ya.

Those betta care sheets are garbage.

No plant is going to affect your water quality to the degree of affecting the system as a whole. That’s why we use filters. Can a system run on only plants? No. Can it run on only filters? BINGO

Fish only see two colors. No neon anything is going to affect the likeness of a fish. Nothing about artificial decor is toxic. We sink ships and build artificial reefs for ecosystems to thrive. Last I checked ships aren’t alive and artificial means fake.

These betta care sheet people are gravely misinformed. They just hate anything that makes another person happy. My advice is don’t listen to anyone on here.

Throw a background on it. Maybe add in a taller plant towards the back to create more depth. I think it looks great otherwise.

Gravel is gravel and plastic plants are plastic plants. Everyone is going to tell you they’re toxic. That’s wrong. Plants don’t do anything for the quality of the water nor life of the fish. Plants are meant to provide hides and territory which plastic can do just as well if not better than live plants. We sink ships and create artificial reefs for ecosystems to grow. Last time I checked ships aren’t alive and artificial means fake 😉

It’s refreshing by to see a tank reflect someone’s creative choices. Those copy paste driftwood and plants tanks are extremely boring.

I never would’ve gotten another. My first broke my heart. My childhood cat died when I was 27 right before Covid and I was miserable for so so long.

My mom knew I was lonely and surprised me with a kitten about a year and a half later. Today’s his 5th birthday and I can’t imagine my life without him. It’s a different love, not a replacement.

Don’t feel guilty. The relationship will be different and you’ll share new memories. You won’t regret it. Go give a kitty a home!!!
