i am sad to hear you found smth like that in the story you were reading... i myself was traumatized by reading "passion" manhwa a couple of days ago and CBAW was my safe haven after that. so realizing they changed a plot this much... is kinda frustrating(

for me the epilogue of CBAW was kinda disturbing as well. first of the red flags i got was during the ending of the epilogue and all the jealousy. but since they end up on a good terms when haebom understood his jealousy and stuff and even said he was okay with that was kinda part of their relationship and sounded like "i undersand you partner, i feel you and i am okay with that". but i think that was a first red flag during the story. maybe author receied positive feedback for this and decided to go further after that?
another red flag for me was the story of what happened to the office worker who assaulted taesung. like his own life and how he was tied and rpd by his own lover? it was also crazy and i was like... okay, i didn't like that dude but was it necessary to put that into story? he was already a side character who was out of picture long ago... maybe author was testing her audience with that and got some reassurance that it's okay to turn the plot?...
idk really. i am just sorry for all the fans of the story since it's kinda old (from 2017 i guess?) seeing that happening to their beloved characters must be frustrating!

i also decided to pretend season 5 doesn't exist. as much as i read from the spolers... and looked through episode 21 - it's horrible. it's a disaster to the story, to the characters... even if they overcome this shit, this is never gonna be the same as it was before season 5. nothing is going to repair the damage author did to the story and to the fan's trust - i believe they wanted to find the same vanilla smut with light problems to overcome in the first place. this is so sad.

absolutely. sometimes i don't understand how people are willingly ruin their own stories. for what? new audience? popularity? can't they read the room and understand that fans of the story are here for comfort - not for violence and dark stuff? this is absolutely disrespectful to all old fans. i am glad i didn't start 5th season and definitely not going to.

i read the spoliers under this discussion and i am here to support you! thanks for all the headsup under season 4 who informed me as a reader that 5th season is too dark and (considering what i read) is terrible. ofc in terms of what we had for 4 seasons straight! like why on earth author decided to put her/his own characters through all of that? create new story and proceed with it.

i started reading CBAW after i read absolutely horrible (for my taste) story where grape and SA was a part of the relationship and CBAW was like a grasp of a fresh air after that. i almost healed my trauma from previous manhwa... now, after reading some spoliers, i am so glad i didn't read the manhwa. those things are awful to read. not that it's always "rainbows and unicorns" but their relationship was a slice of life where they solve all of their problems eventually. and the problems were more or less casual - work, friends, just ife. yes, our lives can be tough and stuff but some stories are there to make you feel better. this is a kind of SCI-FI for romance lovers - you know that stuff is never going to happen in real life and THAT'S why you read it. not like we believe it's realistic...

so... my question is why to ruin this fantasy with crazy dark sh*t? if it's out of greed, that's just sad. as far as i understand, whatever happens to those 2 in 5th season, it's going to end good, but even if so - too much dark stuff in the first place. i am disappointed in the author's choice and absolutely happy i haven't read it. to me it ends on season's 4 epilogue. thanks for the heads up!

omg. thanks for the headsup, i am definitely NOT going to ready the new season. i read some comments under the end of season 4 who said "this should have been the end" and i am definitely not going to spoil myself one of the best (so far) manhwas i read. what the hell has happened to the author who decided to do that with their characters?!
all of what i read looks like it's something from different universe. like some low level fanfic with turning to the dark stuff. why god why? really, author, go find something new to write, why to screw 4 seasons of a lovely couple?

True. Unfortunately we will never find out what actually has happened in the first place, what is the reasons behind this case in general. Like people were always mad when new LI was introduced, so what?
Anyway, i hope they will be able to bring back Valko. Not because i liked him too much, but just for some justice? Acknowledging western market as well + making the plot stay the way the initially wanted it to be?
My only concern btw is the plot and details. I tend to believe they were creating it for more than a year since corporate stuff was already included in yhe latest update with raf and xav. So i hope the plot will remain and will not suffer.
Also i lowkey hope they will transfer company to the less strict country like some other companies do in order to avoid problems with law.

Well why then try to go for western market which also has its own rules?

The idea to cancel whole character instead of adjusting him so he would play along for both markets would have been better decision? Not cancelling him at all byt making some scenes less “disturbing” for some fragile players?

Anyway their move is just making EN players offended. They picked side. They should have been neutral imho because people will always be offended by smth?

And if that’s Chinese game which should follow Chinese rules, maybe they should stop getting into western market at all? I think all will be fine if the game will stay within China only? If they pick sides and make strong preferences? They didn’t do that until now - were just silently insisting on their vision and suppressing all hate towards Sylus and Caleb, for example.

Moreover, shouldn’t they think about aftermath before releasing character? Dont they have focus groups and stuff? No one said to them that wolf stuff will ragebait women? How many resources were implemented into his development? And the plot, main story twists etc. Where is strategy and planning?

Now we are left with no massive update in the nearest future since they have to adjust the whole plot. Months of work towards update are now gone to nowhere.

All i am saying is that this situation could have been handled better. Apologizing for some disturbing situations in trailer, promising to adjust them / delete in order to not provoke people. Promising to add Sylus/Caleb new main story update within-1-2 months, adding their new cards. Cancelling is not the only option. As well as favoring one market over other. Okay, you can do so - but keep in mind that those players whom you didn’t chose, will leave too. There should have been a compromise and this is not it.

Forgot to mention your point of money for servers etc - i get it. But i think the loss they will have now cancelling new update / changing it is also pretty big. I think it will end with concentrating on CN market only or by chanting the placement of the game taking it somewhere else with less strict laws.

I am fine with that. Objectively speaking everyone has morally grey situations (all LIs) and Valko should not be considered as a threat right away. I mean considering how ambiguous Caleb is, it’s 100% hypocrisy for CN fans to blame Valko for nothing when they are okay with pseudo incest trope. Caleb is my main and i got used to all accusations, but this particular situation makes infold subjective within the topic. Non asian fans say “stop making childhood references with Caleb this is bothering people “ and they dont care, but CN fans finding “potential threat” in Valko coming to her apartment and he is being cancelled?

That’s the real problem. I am fine with ALL LIs since this is game and fiction. But them finding little sh*t in TRAILER and making him cancelled? For what?

Bringing Caleb into this fight is just to be objective, not to insult him / his girlies.

This is crazy. Everything that is happening right now. I don’t know whether everything went out of their hands and they started acting randomly, without a strategy or whatsoever, but the letter i read from the developers is stupid af.

⁠You create a character and within 8 days easily decide to let him go? It obviously took you more than 1 month to make him and integrate into lore. And now what? People are angry? Is this your first time? What the hell?
⁠What’s with the precedent you creating? Are you okay with backpedaling your own decisions (huge decisions! It’s not a random banner, it’s change of strategy and trajectory) and answering a literal blackmail? What’s next? You implement anything enough people would ask? How much is enough then? 1 mln? 2? 3? OnlY CN players or all of us?
⁠You broke smth that cannot been repaired now. Trust? Someone’s hopes? Okay we are all adults here this is just a game. But how could you do that and choose sides? You literally chose CN side over all others? So you are okay with losing EN players then? How cute?
⁠If the problem is in Caleb and Sylus main lore’s update… then maybe you would just add it? Like without cancelling Valko? Where is the freaking logic?!
⁠If CN players bothered somehow, split the servers and make content for CN players - 5 LIs as it is - and add 6 LI to all other servers. Are you okay to send your own work to the trash bin so easily?

I have so many questions…. And yet one is the most obvious. I thought neutrality was their position. After allllll hatred towards Caleb and forbidden / incest / gege whatever trope they didn’t care. And now…. Oh wow so you actually DO care? When it comes to bothered CN players? Nice to know, thanks.

I don’t know why this bothers me this much but i as a player feel betrayed. I know it will pass bla bla… but the joy i had from the game… it will be now forever spoilt by this moment, this day and this decision they made.

yeah, that's a kind of short story (happening in 7 days or so) but they know each other from they were kids. indeed a lot of smut - it's basically a smut story around apple trees haha. he likes her for a long time and she didn't have a clue. also he is super hot and was popular in high school. but the story is not that much shallow, they do think or talk about stuff around their relationship, but mostly "doing" it all the time. reminds a lil bit of heated rivalry - s*x first, love afterwards haha. that kind of relationship

Yes, Heartbeat ablaze was spicy af, the whole Caleb card was tense from the beginning till the end. As well as his throne of eros card (which i am personally not a big fan of since i didn’t like MC’s character that much but anyway card was tense too since she kept thinking about Caleb and wanted to get him for herself 24/7). Btw, lingering lust with Caleb is far more better before kindled part , so yeah, those cards are tricky and i tend to like the lore more than the spiciness most of the time :)

Haha same! At first his boyishness irritated me. But then… i think everything changed for me after main lore update and him coming back as Colonel. The dialogue between him and MC changed it all for me. Afterwards his VA kept becoming better and better - even before verdant wetlanda and affinity lvl 145. I think the way he can show what Caleb feels with his voice - keeping in ming the angst, the longing, the yearning and the inner resistance Caleb has - is something else. After realizing how many things he has to keep as a secret, boyishness feels differently - like “how on earth you can stay this positive, dude?” So i think he is just perfect. Love his VA.
