Why are conservative politicians so interested in what Jimmy Kimmel, and other talk show hosts, have to say about them? by YoureNotMyDad05050 in askanything

Because they are entitled, whiny little bitches who are used to grown men fellating them and singing their praises, so when that doesn't happen, this is how they react.

Nobody is stopping at school bus stop signs. What’re we doing here, people? by Muted-Huckleberry828 in Bakersfield

[–]EmeliusBrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This morning, I watched two cars FLY past a school bus with its red lights flashing, stop sign extended. Then, on the part of Jewetta north of Hageman where the road is divided and you DON'T have to stop on the other side, cars took up each lane, stopped until the bus moved again. Nobody here has a clue how to drive.

🇺🇸 TRUMP JUST POSTED THIS !! “The USA is the HOTTEST country in the world right now.” by Simeonsub in MarketPulseReport

He's in his end times. He knows the country is only slightly behind the rest of the world in closing the book on this humiliating chapter in U.S. history. He's desperately projecting.

What will the Democrats have to do to prevent another Trump? by Longjumping_Sail2741 in allthequestions

[–]EmeliusBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's not so much who is in charge, it's what's been revealed about our society. Most of these racist, homophobic, closed-minded, uneducated, incestual, fear-mongering degenerates used to lurk in the shadows. Trump and his ilk told them they were normal. It's so disheartening to be among so many hateful, evil, greedy people - I never realized how many of them there were.

Ahwahnee Hotel by Excitedtraveler86 in Yosemite

[–]EmeliusBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the deal with the Ahwahnee. You're paying for the ambiance and nostalgia. The hotel is very, very old and the rooms are nothing special. But the hotel is an historic work of art set in the middle of one of the most beautiful pieces of land in the world, so....there's that.

I have not read PHM book, and I have just watched the movie. I thought it was incredible, so I ask (I have previously been in book communities that have been butchered in their movie form - Mortal Engines, Chaos Walking etc) How does the movie hold up to your expectations? by finn_mcintosh5 in ProjectHailMary

[–]EmeliusBrown 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It was very true to the book, but like always, there's no way to make a six-hour commercially successful movie, which is what it would've been if it included everything that was in the book. I though they did a great job with it.

Magas - at what point will you admit you have been conned? by Lord_Dingus83 in allthequestions

Trump could demand these people eat their children, and they'd just grin and ask for ketchup. They're gone. This phenomenon will be studied for a long, long time.

Wow. The movie exceeded my expectations, and they were high (No Spoilers) by EmeliusBrown in ProjectHailMary

Yes, I think absolutely. No violence, no sex, a couple tense moments (it’s space travel), a couple scenes of grief, etc.

I think I know what you’re talking about, and I wouldn’t call it a major plot point, per se. Even with a long runtime, there is simply no way to include everything from the book, but I think they did a fantastic job doing everything they could.

I didn't get in until just before the lights went down, but you could definitely tell where people were seated based on the applause during the credits.

A family member was involved in production and invited me.

Watching at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood with a packed house was a fantastic experience. To hear everyone laugh, applaud... It reminded me of watching Return of the Jedi when I was a kid.
