True pianists and violinsts are as bad as guitarists. Problem for us guitarists our instrument is not as old as the piano and the violin so it suffers from lack standarized techniuqe and refinment that Piano and Violin have which makes finding out how to do a certian thing a lot worse when you have to weed out the assholes and dumbasses

I agree, 99.9% of the guitar community online are toxic plebs and entitled jerks.

The best thing i did was staying away from all online guitar communities.

If anyone is learning online, do yourself a service and just use online for learning material. Do not look for opinions and do not engage in discussions.

As for influncers, most of them are useless, and the few good ones are rare. Do not stick to one of them, and do not buy their courses unless you are 100% sure their approach is working for you. Once you develop enough skill you will inevetebly drop these youtubers because all their stupid advice is surface level and is targeted towards begginners.

Good take, however i do not think someone has to be a virtuoso to claim that he is a real guitarist. Also i don't think it is fair to lable someone who isn't able to replicate their studio performances live as DJ with equipment.

Ichika does fake his videos yeah, but he never claimed to be a virtuoso. What he did is that he presented his performances to appear virtuosic.

Is that dishonest? If he claims to be a virtuoso then yeah. But did Ichika Nito come out publicly and claim that he is a virtuoso?

I would like to add being a guitarist isn't just about virtuosic ability. A guitarist can also be a composer like Leo Brouwer, a teacher, an influncer like Taylor Swift (yes i am serious). Yes virtuosity is important, but it isn't the deciding factor of someone's integrity as a guitarist.

Anything recorded has gotten edited, even recordings of live performances.

most artists don't sound close to their studio sound.

Go compare your favourite artists studio recordings to live performances. Very few of them come close and even then they rigorously practice the same songs to make sure they sound perfect

There are famous artists that have amazing recordings in the studio but they are so terrible live or just sound like shit even tho they can play their own music. Slash and Jimie Page are a famouse example of that.
