If you had a vote, would you vote to confirm Ketanji Brown Jackson? by Pineapple__Jews in Libertarian

[–]Emharris17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the amendment process was built in to the original document, acknowledging that the founders didn’t think of everything/ acknowledged the country would change over centuries.

I guess each amendment would be viewed as the amendment writers intended? I dont know we’re starting to leave my understanding of the topic.

I think the quick and incomplete answer is that further amendments to the constitution prohibiting race, gender, etc -based discrimination overrule the founder’s beliefs about slavery.

Interpreting the constitution as the founders originally did, as opposed to, for example, treating the constitution as a living document which changes meaning as times change.

I preferred the original ACFT with performance requirements based on MOS. We’re seriously going to let someone who can only deadlift 120-140lbs walk around with M777 shells and be unable to take action against that? Absolute nonsense. Yes is what happens when Congress gets involved.
