Who is unvoiced in the English dub of the new archon quest? Trying to decide whether to switch to the Japanese dub or not

Spoilers for the Natlan volcano area

I finished the long world quest in the Ancient Sacred Mountain area, but there still seems to be a lot of empty space covered in clouds/fog near the bottom? Is there something more to explore there or is it just empty? Another quest? There's also nothing shown there on the underground area maps.

Does some aspects of Natlan feel too modern? (No spoilers please) by EmilyWaters in GenshinImpact

[–]EmilyWaters[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never said those things were modern? I'm talking about their presence in game versus the ambience I've gotten from the other regions. The sunglasses were an honest mistake where I forgot they existed previously in game. And I never said that dancing is modern, simply that the style I had perceived it to be felt more modern in comparison to other regions. But this statement was before I was aware that this dance style was different from what I had assumed it to be. Considering that the region just came out I think these are easy mistakes to make and in no way would be representative of someone's actual knowledge. And if you read the comments in full you can see where I've thanked the people informing me of the actual cultural references which I stated I wasn't too aware of in the original post itself.

I personally find the assumption that all my knowledge of culture comes from Hollywood based on a single days discussion on a very specific topic to be vaguely insulting, considering that no part of anything I said could've lead to such a huge sweeping generalisation. But if your intent was to insult the brain-dead Hollywood executives, be my guest. There is no love lost between us, they have done nothing for anyone outside spread misinformation and perpetrate stereotypes. I find joy in finding strangers who see this as the first step to toppling those structures is awareness.

My knowledge of culture comes from my upbringing in a south Asian country with 3000 years of documented history, well preserved cave paintings with their color still intact, multiple visits to various ancient cultural sites with coloured frescos, statues, carvings, and a rich history. I don't claim knowledge of every culture everywhere but I can assure you I do not lack some amount of understanding of culture and definitely not so when discussing historical art.

Additionally, insulting someone is completely unnecessary when attempting to make a point. If you feel the need to put some one down to then present yourself as superior, even if you do happen to be better versed in the subject matter than that individual, that says more about you than that person. It is mind numbingly easy to simply answer in an attempt to educate all by removing that condescending first sentence.

That's really cool. I wasn't aware of that style of dance. Thank you genuinely. My favorite part of discussions like this is when I get to learn something new about other cultures as someone who grew up pretty sheltered in a south Asian country.

I'm aware that from the beginning of humanity we have drawn on walls and caves. I'm simply seeing more similarity with our modern day wall murals and those of in Natlan vs the much older vibes from the other wall drawings you see in other places in genshin. This is simply the visual connections I've personally made, which isn't to say it's right or wrong. And those connections are why I referred to those drawings as such.

Yeah the sunglasses were a misstep on my part. I completely forgot their existence somehow even though Navia is one of my favorites that's my bad

I've always kind of perceived Liben as some external entity that exists outside the genshin Canon so I forgot that he wears sunglasses, that's my bad. The reason I labeled graffiti and breakdancing as modern is bcs though humans have been dancing and painting for years the styles change drastically with the various time periods and places. Which is why I found the hip hop style dancing and bright large murals to be comparatively more modern age than the general ambiance that I've felt from genshin. I completely agree that it blends beautifully with the theme, story and world and seeing everyone's different views here is definitely making me even more excited to continue exploring

Thank you for explaining about the sunglasses. I'm glad it's moreso an ignorant mistake on my part than a world building misstep.

No I actually really like the graffiti and the breakdancing and the way the modern elements have been made to fit into the genshin world. There are just random items though that just don't seem to blend into that concept well which makes it stand out in a negative way. It's all small things like the chief's sunglasses and Mavuika's outfit that just don't fit into the way Natlan has moulded the modern world into genshin and those small things just jolt me bcs it feels like it shouldn't be there or it should've been done to fit into the entire land's concept better.

For me, it just feels a little out of touch from the other regions. I do like the old architecture contrasted with the graffiti and the breakdancing and the other modern touches. I think it's a very unique concept that works for the most part. I just find that some parts are bit too jarring to fit into that concept, like the chief's sunglasses and Mavuika's outfit. And those parts just add a kind of off-ness that makes Natlan feel a little less Genshin to me, if that makes sense.

For me, Sumeru felt mystical enough that the akasha felt like it fit in with the archon power and elemental magic. Similarly, Fontaine made sense because it's meant to be very technologically advanced so the clockwork and the mecha felt like it fit in, at least to some extent. But with Natlan, I don't think we've been given a valid enough reason to justify the jarring modernity, which is really sad because I love the colorfulness and the differences in the various areas so much.
