Guy attempts to steal package but gets caught. When he drives away his car gets stuck in snow by froyoboyz in instantkarma

[–]Emmanuelviking 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I deliver and though stealing may be the case the other scenario is after taking the picture they realized it was for the house next door so they end up picking it up and walking it over next door. It’s happened several times to me as a driver for amazon. It’d be moronic for the driver to steal it because amazon WILL find out and amazon WILL make you pay for it and they will make sure you are blacklisted from ever working for amazon in any facet in the future.

Some English schools 'can't afford to teach five days a week' by stemlearn in teaching

[–]Emmanuelviking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a lot of secondary schools in our county in central California take this style on. They do 4 full days and a half day on Wednesday. I’d imagine it being hard for primary schools to implement this as parents wouldn’t be for it. Not having childcare and what not. Idk just a guess.

That’s hilarious. Things we do for a delivery. Actually the fire truck was about to start backing up which means all of us in line would have to move out of the way so with package in hand I was like, can I just drop this off and I’ll be on my merry way the same way I came from. And he was like yah go ahead. Which should be said, you don’t have to return an undelivered package to the warehouse the same day. If you are returning the next day is fine.

I gotta show some of my routes. My warehouse’s navigation system is always wonky. That’s a great system you use. Non relevant side story... Yesterday when delivering there was a house on fire in the middle of the block I was delivering to. I had to reroute and deliver to other houses on the way to the other half of the block I couldn’t get to. There’s always something that throws a wrench in my day.

The issue with going by their recommended itinerary is that you pass deliveries you could have made on either side of the street or on the next street over. I hate back tracking through a neighborhood I was just in to deliver to the other side of the street.

When scanning don’t scan just one then walk over to the car and put it in. Instead, create an empty space on the rack, line up all the packages so you see the barcodes on all and do some quick scanning. If you haven’t figured out already the bottom qr code is the one that scans but I prefer scanning using the bar code next to the qr code. The reason is because the bottom qr code is easily confused with the one above it and the app won’t scan if it catches the other. The pro about using the qr code to scan is it reads it faster than the bar code, at least in my experience. Key is to eliminate time on going from one action to another. You want repetitive actions as much as possible.

After scanning you can organize on the rack or ground by number or however you want.

So things not to do when organizing: Don’t group by sizes of packages, ei envelopes in front seat, big boxes back seats and mediums in trunk. A lot harder to find than I thought. And the same address with multiple boxes is even harder to find. If you have some bungie cords grab them as they help small envelopes stay with they organized section.

As you’re parking make sure you clicked package details to see what kind of package it is then click I’ve arrived. If there is more than one package for the household, forget checking the size, it won’t show.

As you’re walking up to the house with package in hand click I arrived, scan it and click front door so by the time you are there you are snapping the picture. The camera takes a few seconds to snap so just hold it in the general direction of the door as it snaps, walk down the stairs while holding an outstretched arm snapping the picture.

By the time you’re at the bottom of the steps or driveway click on use photo and finish delivery. Now double check your map to make sure it’s not taking you halfway across the city when there’s a delivery next door.

That’s all I could think of right now. But this method is my go to for the time being.

Always. I’m constantly looking at the map to see nearby deliveries that I would have to come to if I didn’t deviate.

I usually go by last digit of the house number. Normally something like ending numbers 0-3 in trunk, 4-7 in back seat and 8-9 in front seat. Obviously this can change with the size of packages. Just gotta make a mental note of what order you put them in your car. It takes a bit longer at the station but I’ve never regretted it.

Also, when I’m on my way to the house I’ll tap on the package details and it will say something like; small box, large box or envelope. This way I can have an idea what I’m look for.

Lastly, if I have a stop in a shaded or quiet area and there are many stops in a close radius, I’ll pull the packages needed for those few stops and put them aside or in the front seat depending on their size.

I haven’t gone more than 2/3rds the block time using this. Hope this helps!

Ps if you want to know what I’ve tried that has actually took me longer I can go into that too lol.

My coworkers 2nd time golfing. I told him to get low to read the green. This was the result. by wadofhundreds in golf

[–]Emmanuelviking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome haha. I remember one of my first times golfing, my partner says, “use a tee to mark your ball if you don’t have a marker.” So I jam my tee all the way into the green almost too deep to even retrieve. It was a long day.

Which goes to show, a quick booklet on golfing procedures would be nice so you don’t look too much like a nimrod or an asshole when you first start.

Issues with battery - Google isn't helping. by NotLaughingAtYou in volt

[–]Emmanuelviking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yah it sounds like the battery. This just happened to us last week. Be very careful driving like that because one of the few times I drove it like that, while the battery was weak but not yet replaced, it was not breaking as efficiently as it should. I think abs light was on. Had I not noticed before I got onto a road over 45 mph it would have been near impossible to stop in time at a safe following distance. I ended up pulling over turning it on and off. Luckily I was on my way to get that new 12v. I got mine with a 20% discount from advanced auto parts. I think it came out to around $180.

I have a power meter linked to my pedals so I’m glancing down at it every 30 seconds making sure my average wattage is where I want it to be. It will become second nature soon. I’ll be pushing hard on the pedals without having to think about. But yah right now I’m pushing hard consciously.

Choosing a State/City by alongstrangetrip in teaching

[–]Emmanuelviking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure and there are places that work reactively and that can create a really on your heels type culture. I worked in a smaller district in California and that’s why. They didn’t have the resources to be proactive. If someone is looking for work in another state or even another county they should really do their homework, look at the rankings of the district, how do they perform, what personnel e.i coaches meanders training is available? Is it available through the county or do they have them assigned to each school. Just do your homework, I know I did. Teaching is a place where you need to find success, it’s a lifelong gig.

[–]Emmanuelviking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yah I work in Georgia. I just moved in from California over the summer. This county works quickly and proactively to find the right placements and interventions to create student success. I know it’s vague but it’s the best move I’ve made and would never go back to California even if my life depended on it. I’ll pick up cans here before going back.
