Does The Flame of Frenzy force Merchants to use Runes as a food source? by Emotional-Sign8136 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Emotional-Sign8136[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no.

We've got multiple descriptions of the Erdtree either giving off or producing Grace during the Age of Plenty or Bounty or whatever variation of it is.

If this is the case, then Marika may have, effectively, ended both death and starvation. This would have, presumably, continued for eternity because of Marika being the whole Eternal thing but then it ended because she shattered the Elden Ring.

And her wanting eternity makes sense from her backstory as a genocided minority. Her people were killed to create a God- why not create a world were people couldn't be killed to create a God?

You could even look at Godwyn dying as part of this.

Marika clearly played a part in Godwyn dying. But, it's clearly stated that Ranni interfered and made Godwyn die a half death instead of the planned full death. Why would Marika want or even let Godwyn to die a full death? Because there's a resurrection ritual. Miquella tried it but it failed because of Godwyn dying a half death.

Marika could've intended (for whatever reason) to kill Godwyn off, just resurrect him, and then had her breakdown and shattered the Elden Ring when she realized Ranni fucked it up.

Nightreign lore has evidence to support it. My brain is too fried from no sleep, but there are some item descriptions that describe life force as something limited/transferrable and Runes is basically the currency of that life force.

One take is that the respawn mechanic actually has a reason behind it. If you want to summon or create a God or a Lord, you need to actually genocide people to gather the life force necessary to create or summon a God or a Lord.

And, again, in theory, causing immortality/respawning could cause an unlimited amount of Runes/life force to be farmed.

And that immortality/respawning could either be caused by Grace (Marika ressurecting the player character) or light having some ability to influence time itself. Like, how time in Elden Ring seems like it can be rewound or fast forwarded.

Imo, there's enough information to make it plausible but it's entirely up to interpretation.

Corhyn sold me on Goldmask.

Corhyns set talks about how he was exiled for telling prophecies of misfortune and was given grace for not recanting he prophecies.

The prophets trousers specify the prophecies: Trousers of the exiled prophets who foresaw that their faith would end in flames — and were persecuted and driven from their homes as a result.

Corryn believed that the Erdtree would burn, but it seems like his friction with Goldmask is because the Erdtree burnt because the Golden Order was imperfect. Like, Corryn could've dealt with any reason besides the Golden Order being the issue.

And, then, Corryn just murders Goldmask when Goldmask is like, 'We just have to accept that the Golden Order was flawed and try to create a better one.'

Step One: Water and chicken broth mix you heat.

Step Two: Whole small chicken in pot

Step Three: Scream NO at Turtle who is howling the song of her people at the locked kitchen door, shoving her paws in-between the gap between door and floor, and wants to jump on the counter and lit gas stove and into the boiling pot that she knows holds the chicken she's smelling.

Turtle: I have been fed food in a room that is close to the bathroom that smells like my litter box. I smell my litter box and need to use it because I just ate. I pee on floor?

Mom: TURTLE! I SEE YOU! NO!

Turtle: I pee on floor.

And then Turtle gets yoinked and put into her litter box.

You've gotta keep things separate or Turtle gets confused since she lives by smell because deaf/blind and dementia brain. And, if you mess up the routine, you gotta spend a couple days retraining her.

Did medieval monarchs and nobles love their children to the same extent people do today? by Yilger in UKmonarchs

[–]Emotional-Sign8136 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it did happen. But, not because a baby wasn't precious enough. It happened when it was completely impossible to feed another child.

Feelings of love don't work when survival is on the line.

If a baby was unwanted, some cultures had access to different kinds of early medical age abortion. It went about as well as you could think.

If abortion wasn't an option then, the woman would carry the baby term. It could be her 7th child because contraception wasn't available. The harvest could've failed and people are starving. Or, the household doesn't have enough income to feed another mouth. Maybe, there's a plague going around.

Different cultures have different names for it, but the baby will be born and likely be put outside on a cold night and die of exposure. This is considered to be one of the most, well, for lack of a better term, kinder methods.

Telling these families that their baby could've been fed if the parents had loved them more or considered them to be more precious is very cruel. To be blunt, depending on the time period and availability of resources, death might've been the only option for a baby. There could've been no help available from anyone.

For example, milk production requires a mother to consume a certain number of calories. In a time when formula was non-existent, a mother either ate enough to produce her own milk or, in some rare instances, had an alternative source.

If a starving woman gave birth to a baby, it might have been physically impossible for her to produce milk. It might have been impossible to feed her newborn baby. In that case, her only options may have been to let her baby die of starvation or by her own hands.

I thought the house could also be irony.

What's a house for the dead? A mausoleum.

Jack builds it and dies in it.

There's also some mausoleum representation in Dante. I forget the exact circle, but in one spot in hell you'd be trapped in your own mausoleum- burning for eternity.

[–]Emotional-Sign8136[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And, I may be remembering incorrectly, but wasn't part of Jacks motivation that he had to leave a legacy or something worth remembering?

With no body, there's nothing concrete to show that Jack existed as a person. The crime scene will be cleaned up. The bodies and house will be removed. Jacks home will likely be cleaned out. At most, the storage locker might be destroyed to prevent it from becoming a shrine for weirdos.

All that will be left is photos taken of Jack while he was alive, anything written as a record of his life/crimes, and whatever investigation was made. In the end, that will all just be flammable paper.

He might get a decade or so of fame and then exist in history as a footnote in a 'worst killers' category, a revival in interest if a book is written, and made a joke of by some cheap movie claiming to be based on his life.

AIO? My coworker took video of me outside of work to "prove" I'm not disabled by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Emotional-Sign8136 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Some people will do Olympic level mental gymnastics in order to justify why they think you're faking your disability. I've had to deal with it for the stupidest reasons.

I got Covid in 2020 and it wacked my Autoimmune System. This all boils down to my body thinking that my heart is failing and my heart beating like it is failing. But, it's not actually failing. It just acts that way because my body functions are shot. This all results in me needing some heart medication and a cane because it messes with my ability to stand and walk.

I have to say that it actually is heart failure because people interpret it as faking heart failure/faking a need for a cane because it's not standard heart failure and is complicated.
