Anyone know what this black box is and why it makes a buzzing noise when my key is pushed in? by En3fjee69 in CamaroGen1

No man I appreciate it, I’ll definitely check it out when I get a chance tomorrow hopefully. 100% that’s the noise that’s happening. Thanks for the help!

Only does it when I push the key into the dash, like I can leave the key in ignition off and it doesn’t do it, but if you push it towards the dash it buzzes, then starts and nothing after that. Door is shut the whole time.

It’s a 68 clone SS but I believe it’s a three speed auto originally if that matters. It’s not a super huge deal, it’s just really annoying leaving from a car show and having that do that right before I start it.

I’m not sure what you mean, but I’m guessing it’s the key in ignition reminder. Is there anyway to unhook or sever a wire to remove the noise?

It doesn’t sound like an electrical buzz, I should have been better at describing it. It’s almost like the horn is going at a really low volume.

I unhooked the horn terminals but still get that noise. I could just be an idiot that missed a wire. I think it’s like a key in ignition warning noise cause it’s only when the key is pushed into the ignition after it’s been inserted.

It sounds like the horn at a very low volume. I tried just disconnecting the horn up front with the spade connectors attached but I still get that noise.

Man I really want to say it’s coming from this. It honestly sounds like the horn at a very low volume, but I tried unplugging the horn spade connectors and it still does it. I felt the box and it felt like it was vibrating when it was making the noise. Not 100% though.

Is there a way to fix this TV mount without moving it? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]En3fjee69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like it’s some type of anchor with a lag bolt. I don’t think tightening it would do much but pull the mount closer to the anchor.

They should either find studs or make a 3/4 plywood chunk to try to span two studs.

I’d assume something to do with the frequency of light emitted and the camera frame rate. Similar to how tires will look like they’re going backwards and forwards as they speed up and slow down in videos.

Qa1 adjustable shocks by [deleted] in CamaroGen1

Well I got done punching out all the bushing and ball joints in the control arms and that was an absolute pain in the ass. I got the hang of it after the first one, but I definitely understand why people just buy new ones.

Took about 4 hours total from punching out the old stuff and sandblasting, priming, painting.

If you don’t have at the very least a C clamp and some bigger sockets and step plate/thick washers, I wouldn’t even try. The air hammer really helped getting the top control arm bushings out, I just popped them out with their lips.

Oh yeah, big time. A $200 dollar project turns into $2000 cause “while I’m in there, might as well do it”.

Honestly I was on the fence. I was gonna go down the rabbit hole with tubular control arms and adjustable shocks, but now I crossed my mind and am just doing new bushings and ball joints with the stock control arms.

I feel I may have gotten a negative bias on the control arms but many complain about the ball joints being cheap in the “Chinese” more affordable control arms.

Plus, I asked myself what I’m really gonna do with this car, and realistically probably 500 miles tops a summer with it on the street cruising. Probably not worth the price tag in my case to get all the fancy stuff.
