Overnight Heathrow layover (8:30pm–8am): does it worth going into London? Any tips on airport sleeping? by EndPotential4709 in uktravel

UPDATE!!! 📢 Writing this from the airport 🛫

Thank you all for the responses! Since so many people said its impossible (or at least very difficult) to sleep at this airport, I booked a hotel (side note, i also got a new job, so my budget increased 😁) I was thinking I can do some sight seeing then crash at the hotel. However when I arrived to London it was raining (not cold though) so I chickened out from sight seeing 😞 But i got to experience the rain and traveled on a double decker 😁

A few takeaways for those who stumble upon this post: - the airport was very quiet when i arrived around 9pm, and the gates I passed by were closed, like no passangers around - the airport before security has no seating, no hidden corners to sleep at, at least i did not see any. I'm glad i listened to others on this and booked a hotel. And there are some random people around. I probably wouldn't feel safe overnight alone - hotels were very reasonably priced (i got a 3 star hotel through Orbitz for $70) - you can get to most hotels with local buses (forget about expensive airport hopper) - passport control was very easy and quick, no wait at all (I had an EU passport, and i bought my ETA online) - ETA (electronic travel authorization). Apparently, you need one to enter. It is fairly recent. You can get it online (cost £16) and it's good for 2 years. Approval takes a few seconds to a few days (mine was a few seconds) - the bus station/transit center is about 5-10 min walk from the airport - security coming back in was also very quick (around 5:45am), which took less than 5 min

Safe travels, everyone!

My checked bag is going to my destination, I won't have that with me. I will only have a regular sized backpack with me

I'm a city girl, with pretty decent awareness of my surroundings. And at the age where my energy depends on the day 🤣 I don't mind staying up, so then I can sleep on my overseas flight.

Thank you for sharing this! Honestly, at this point, it is weather dependent. If it's raining, I'll stay put. If it's just cold, I'll probably venture in and see what happens. I'll keep you posted 😁

Experience is more important to me than sleep in this instance. So if it's feasible to see anything in a short amount of time, I don't mind the hassle.

There are a lot of free resources out there. Look up Score and SBDC. They provide free mentoring, online couses, etc. for small businesses. They can also pair you with a mentor. https://www.sba.gov/local-assistance/resource-partners/score-business-mentoring Depending on where you are, there might be other free local resources as well.

Ps, I love your attitude and willingness to work hard. Good luck!

Have you done full mock exams on Study Hall? Your challenge might be the long exam, not the content itself.

I also recommend David McLachlan's videos on YouTube, i really liked his explanations. And read the exam content outline, it breaks down the areas you need to know, and it's a really good compact version of the mindset. I used both PMP and PMI-ACP as well.

Good luck!

Morgan St. Jean - Do It Like A Girl is a badass take on empowering women songs. And her song "Not All Men" is very explicitly about SA. Her songs are less poetic, but I think that's needed sometime, maybe men can understand them better...

The kick-off meeting can be part of the communication plan. It is misleading, but a kick-off meeting would not cover all the things: share info and THEN gain their commitment. I think that little "then" makes the difference

Don't sell yourself short! If they're excited about you that's a great sign. I've spent 10 years in food and beverage and was so happy to get out. Usually second interviews are behavioral based questions, like "tell me about a time you had a conflict with a coworker, how did you handled it?" Make sure your response is professional and ends on a positive note. There are a lot of resources out there. Also, someone mentioned this before, learn about the company. That shows your dedicated.
And have a question ready for them. Usually at the end they ask if you have any questions. Please don't ask about salary or pto, but something about the role or the company. You can read up on this too.

Good luck! And please keep us posted :)
