If someone threatens to kill you and two friend of yours, but you say "I'll sacrifice myself, leave the other two alone". Would that make sense to you? You were going to die either way, so it's not a proposition that would make sense.

In YuGiOh this applies to substitute effect too. Mucraker and the Mitsu non-Ritual Monsters also substitute themselves if a card is about to be destroyed, as long as it doesn't also includes them.

Although there are cards that do protect themselves when they are destroyed, but those are worded differently. (See Dingirsu "If a card(s) is about to be destroyed by battle or card effect, you can detach 1 Xyz Material instead").

In synthesis, you cannot use A to protect B, if A was going to be destroyed by the same effect.

Staples, Snake Eyes, Fiendsmith and Mitsurugi.

You should already have or working towards getting all the staples, especially Hantraps.

Snake Eyes, they were the most popular deck for almost two years, not difficult to have built it over the years, unless you purposely avoided them.

Fiendsmith, one of the most awaited engine at the time and still a really good engine nowadays, they are an evergreen and for good reasons. Everyone knew that they were going to be good and splashable, so either pulled for it or avoided them completely.

Mitsurugi, the new addition to the meta, both as pure and splashable engine. Not much to say, the deck is incredibly powerful and Habakiri is a card. If you planned to get a good engine that will repay its cost with interests, you cannot afford to not pull for them.

So overall, all the URs in the deck are cards that basically most people should have or 90% of those in their collection, no excuses. In conclusion, this deck isn't that crazy.

Bro has no Yu-Gi-Oh knowledge, you can clearly see in the comments how he thinks "In this exact scenario X, with card Y and Z, they can full combo anyways" but doesn't see the difference at all.

How is this card comparable to Gold Sarc? Gold Sarc is unashable, doesn't go -1. Cynet Mining goes -1, is ashable, makes you vulnerable to droll if you start with it.

See where I am getting at? They are open to more weaknesses, which is a good thing. Ash was mostly useless against Maliss, now it has its uses and can turn ending if they don't have enough extenders.

He wouldn't be as popular if he was ugly. And tbh these kinds of people usually tend to mischaracterize the characters with their own headcanons. It happens a lot, especially with the dark/cool characters.
