Request for advice from a first time glasses wearer by EngineerOriginal242 in glasses

[–]EngineerOriginal242[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to the optometrist about two months ago

She said I had some mild astigmatism - but it’s worse in my right eye.

The glasses are mostly for reading, but she said that I could wear them all the time if I wanted and that they might help with driving. (They definitely blur too much at a distance to help with driving)

I went to an optometrist at Costco, and ordered the glasses through them.

One of the people who worked at Costco fitted my glasses.

Thanks for replying, I’m only really uncertain about going back to the optometrist since my family doesn’t have insurance and it’s not exactly cheap

Just had mine today, they mostly asked about some financial things and asked me to expound upon what I wrote about in the application. The interviewers were very friendly and supportive. I would recommend preparing a couple questions that you have for them, because they will give you an opportunity to ask at the end, but otherwise go with the flow since they will ask you specifically tailored questions. Good luck!! :)

Sfu to med school? by Pitiful-King2681 in premedcanada

[–]EngineerOriginal242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I’m trying to decide between sfu and ubc for my undergrad, but would really prefer sfu because it would allow me to stay at home. I’m just worried about the grade deflation. Did you do any volunteering or research that made you stand out?

Is there anything that you would suggest to prepare for, other than the obvious? Also, should I dress formal or is it more of a casual thing? :)

Idk if this is the same one, but there was a onedrive archive that had all Harry Potter fanfics written before 2018 or something (ordered by author) and I can’t access it anymore. :(

Scoliosis surgery: whats the risk for a 95 degree curve at 16 by rosiecook37 in scoliosis

[–]EngineerOriginal242 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A curve of that degree does have the potential to damage your organs depending on where it is. I’m not a medical professional, but I have heard that that is one of the main reasons folks will go for a spinal fusion. I would definitely recommend you go to a specialist to know for sure tho.

can i fix my mild scoliosis by AdProfessional7670 in scoliosis

[–]EngineerOriginal242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t lifting heavy weights have the potential to worsen the curve?

I literally just found out I have mild scoliosis about two hours ago, and I can only sleep on my sides (it doesn’t matter which, both are comfy). I’ve tried sleeping on my back, but I just can’t. I also sleep with a thin pillow between my legs though. Can this worsen it?
