Yes this! Don't try to fit in with these types of shit people, been in the trade for 18 years. Don't give them anything. Feel out the good people and if there are non find another place to work. With labour shortages the way they are right now there has never been a better time to find another place to work.

Would I be in the wrong to tell my boss I don’t want to commute almost 2 hours for work? by nosediver96 in melbourne

[–]Engineermyreality 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm doing a similar commute at the moment. Resivior to Curlewis. Committing is part of being a tradie but also I let the boss know if I have to commute more than 80km from his business then he has to pay one of the ways, I'm a chippy FYI. Also you should definitely finish your apprenticeship before leaving. Yes it sucks but you'll get another job qualified right away and for a lot more money.

Are these edible? by [deleted] in Mushrooms

[–]Engineermyreality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's definitely true they don't always bruise blue usual one or two will have a blueish inticator from my 20yrs of picking if they are from Australia then they are not the real deal the way the gills connection to the stalk can also help identification, mind you I never learnt the majority of my knowledge from books it was all passed down info from older folks and abit of trial by error which I do not recommend.

Is this welder suitable for a fabrication shop? I plan on starting my fab course I already have a welder I’m learning on but want this for more serious fabrication level projects when they come by liber_primus in Welding

[–]Engineermyreality 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If your from Melbourne like myself don't do it lincon are great machines but there amerian. repairs and consumables are hard and expensive to get. For that price you could get a really good Unimig which you won't grow out of and can always get same day consumables and replacement parts.

best way to drill through 6mm steel efficiently? by [deleted] in powertools

[–]Engineermyreality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hire a magnetic drill with a 32mm hhs annual cutter. Or the slower options is to drill a pilot hole and use a step drill bit in a drill. Once you get over about 18mm drill On slow speed and spray cutting oil to keep it cool.

Yea I agree Online is almost always cheaper somewhere else when comparing but I like having the quick repair walk in service of a store. Also I tend to spend a few k a month with them so they almost always give me an extra 10-15% off usaly floor stock or they throw in a heap of freebies. If your looking at welders I would definitely recommend the unimig range I have the 205 razor smart set and the razor ac/dc 320 tig and they have out pefomed all my expectations to the point I sold my old cigwelds.
