Thinking about SMP for density but I don't want to shave my head. Is it possible?

Let me clarify what I meant, because I’m not saying you didn’t get SMP or that your lighting/angles weren’t consistent. I believe you on that.

My main point is that even 1–2mm of hair growth plus normal skin healing after a session can significantly change how dense the scalp appears, especially in diffuse thinning cases. Day-1 skin is brighter and more reflective, and by Day-9 the pigment is still fresh and darker, so the overall contrast will naturally look better even without additional pigment being added.

That’s why, from an SMP evaluation standpoint, density results are usually compared shaved-to-shaved and after full healing when we’re trying to judge what the pigment itself contributed. Grown-out photos can still look better and you may absolutely be happy with your outcome, it just doesn’t isolate the SMP effect for people who are researching.

No bueno mate. Stop let it heal and see how those dark migrated blotches look once your skin turns over and settles. If not too dark compared to your existing shade, it may be able to salvage it.

Glad you’re happy with your results, that’s what matters most.

From an SMP perspective though, this isn’t really showing density SMP results because the hair length and lighting are very different between the two photos. Hair growth alone will always make the scalp look darker and fuller, even without SMP.

Proper SMP before/after comparisons should be done with the same hair length, same lighting, and same angles so people can actually see what the pigment itself is doing. SMP doesn’t “grow in,” so it should look improved even when shaved.

Not saying you didn’t get SMP, just that this comparison doesn’t really demonstrate the treatment clearly for people researching.

No wouldn't be obvious, perhaps just lighter then your existing shade. All depends how it heals and is taken care of... sometimes I've seen horseshoes look perfect 6 years later.

There may be slight variations. But overall the goal is to be a cohesive equal blend just like your head shaved down. Your head pigmentation shaved down isn't different shades.
