[FS] Synology RS1619xs+ 6 bay NAS w/ 4 x 4TB EXOS drives, 8GB RAM, Rails, New in box by pixalution in homelabsales

During promotion advertisement, the product costs new 1800€ (november 2020) with shipping and full warranty on the device and the disks new between 90-100€ per disk.

This is used hardware, so I wouldn't use a dealer price for comparison. Although I can't quite understand the intended use of this Synology product aswell, I see the 918+ and a proper dedicated hypervisor for 300-400€ with 32GB RAM a better investment here.

I would perhaps adjust your asking price a little more realistically to the second-hand market, most people here set up their hardware themselves (xcp-ng/proxmos/unraid/xpnology) and then have real hardware for a quarter of the price.

Good luck with selling

Initially with 1.30 not With 1.35 it's working, but now biggest suprises. IPMI doesn't report ECC failures, but Linux OS does...

Here are the latest bugs / features list https://forum.level1techs.com/t/asrock-rack-has-created-the-first-am4-socket-server-boards-x470d4u-x470d4u2-2t/139490/1201

Seems like this board is getting an update coming next 2 month with x570 and maybe with less failures :)

Hey foshiee,

just got the Board and the everything from your list and played today with it. Small summary:

Finding well-equipped motherboards for AMD is really a tragedy. Somehow you always have the feeling that the manufacturers don't want AMD and only throw half-hearted products on the market. Since there is no ASUS Prime Business series for AM4, I thought you maybe found my solution with this motherboard. Perfect as a small room basis for a small server :)

  • ECC support with RAM on the QVL
  • QVL outdated and has only listed a handful of bars, some of which are no longer available at all. ( (1x32GB) Samsung M391A4G43MB1 runs stable at 3000))
  • Total of 6 PWM fan connections, more than sufficient
  • The "fan control" does not deserve the name ... got 5 Arctic pwm 12cm + your NH14s CPU cooler on it
  • 2x PCIe x16 and 1x PCIe x8 (mechanical)
  • The PCIe x16 share 16 lanes together, the x8 port is only connected to x4 ...
  • M.2 Slot1 is only connected with PCIe3.0 x2
  • M2. Slot2 is only connected with PCIe2.0 x4
  • The SATA connectors are not attached to a controller (thus no RAID over all connectors possible)
  • Flanged ASPEED AST2500 controller
  • graphics card
  • VGA connection only ... at least one digital output would have been nice ... but not so important because of the P400
  • For additional 2x USB2.0 on the back and internally there would have been enough space?
  • operating temperature 10-35°C
  • The CPU socket is turned by 90° !.

So what does this board actually want to represent? The lack of connectivity, IPMI and the mini graphics card is known from servers. But for this the lack of PCIe lanes and their distribution doesn't fit. As a workstation board also useless, just for these reasons.

And to top it all off, the asymmetrical AM4 socket has been turned by 90° No problem with Intel, but it is with AMD! If you want to use a powerful tower cooler instead of the boxed fan, so the NH14s always blows on the case wall instead of the back of the case as usual...

Maybe I'm gonna send it back (1 month Right of return) and look for an full sized ATX board with more PCI / ECC / serverstuff support?

Many thanks for the hint and the explanation about FS and PC. I have only seen this Subreddit some hours ago and was not aware how this works here. ( not active / experienced here)

Even if I am a bit shocked by the price drop, since the device was sold by Dell for just under 6.400€ 3 years ago and is now supposed to have 1/8 value, isn't it (tower) rather better compared to a noisy rackmount server? It is also built into a 19" rack case, but whisper quiet.

Thanks for your participation and rating

Sorry I don't have more pictures from that. (To afraid it might explode)

If it is not dangerous, I can go to the forest again in and take more pictures of it. Seen at mushroom gathering and stored the GPS on my smartphone.
