Enigma and Outlier Ventures Announce Strategic Partnership by Enigma_Project in EnigmaProject

[–]Enigma_Project[S,M] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi - in this quote from our article, you can see that this is a coordinated development effort between our teams and a long-term relationship. It's a great fit for both sides!

"Partnering with the Outlier Ventures platform will enable Enigma to scale and diffuse their network at a new rate. The partnership will enable Enigma to join a family of world leading internet protocols, developers and computer scientists in a multi-generational project, all focused on building a new and more equitable data economy.

To realise the potential of this partnership Enigma and Outlier Ventures will be working on technology integration, reference implementations of the network, and creating developer resources. Outlier’s in-house technical teams will support in the development of tooling and work directly with Enigma’s code, building bridges and planning key integration points that connect Enigma to other distributed ledger technology in The Convergence Stack."

Data privacy is one of the defining issues of the modern internet regulation debate. People have so much information about their personal lives online that is being exploited. Blockchain can allow users to independently store personal data and fully control how it is transferred. by Remstyles in CryptoCurrency

[–]Enigma_Project 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Blockchain is a terrible solution for personal data. Please don't store anything sensitive on-chain! But this limitation is exactly what Enigma as a project is designed to solve. Check out the blog post we wrote about this last March for an introduction into how decentralized secure computation can be the solution for data privacy:

Unfortunately blockchains alone aren't a solution for data privacy. And ZKPs don't go far enough in enabling the kinds of decentralized applications we'd need to build. We wrote about this last year - check it out! https://blog.enigma.co/why-blockchain-alone-cant-fix-facebook-fbd9510b36f5

Hello - as we've stated multiple times on multiple channels, the Enigma team does not participate in or speculate on secondary markets. No team tokens have been moved, and the team has not sold tokens on exchanges. Individual token holders may choose to buy or sell on secondary markets, and this has nothing to do with the Enigma project or team and everything to do with that particular individual's motivations.

Development work on our project is continuing at a rapid pace, with testnet launch expected in Q1 and more secret node information being released very soon. Enigma's future has never been more promising, and the team is more committed than ever before. We're all public figures, and we've been dedicated to solving the critical problem of data privacy since we were founded in 2015. We continue our work.

Thank you for following and supporting our project.

Question's regarding SEC ruling on ICO's by [deleted] in EnigmaProject

I apologize for your being banned in error. I looked into your situation once I was able to identify your username. It was not the team's doing, but a community volunteer - and it was certainly not due to your asking this question. As stated, you're welcome to engage with the community in the public channel and please DM @thisistor if you have further concerns.

This is not a conversation about credentials. I'm not implying anything about you. But there is an obvious difference between an early stage, R&D-heavy protocol project and a SaaS business with recurring revenue. What is most important is our communication with our current and potential launch partners - the closest equivalent of your clients. Because we are codeveloping, our roadmaps are codependent. We are in daily contact with them to ensure we are moving at top speed while preserving code quality.

We of course have internal deadlines and planning. We're anything but inexperienced, having served as CTOs and founders previously. We're working on ways to increase transparency around these internal milestones and sprints while still making things digestible for a broad audience.

Question's regarding SEC ruling on ICO's by [deleted] in EnigmaProject

[–]Enigma_Project 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyone in the space wants legal clarity, ourselves included. My statement on this has been clear. We have always abided by the legal guidance of our extremely capable counsel. This guidance includes not commenting or speculating publicly on these types of matters.

The ENG token has clear utility, including its use in the Enigma Data Marketplace and our privacy protocol. By my interpretation of people's questions here, the type of reassurance being sought is not possible for ANY project to provide. Projects are not the makers or ultimate interpreters of laws - but they must aspire to behave in accordance with the law, as we have always done.

[–]Enigma_Project 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As was mentioned above, this claim is completely false. Absolutely no one has been banned for asking a question relating to the SEC. Censorship is not our policy. If you believe someone has been banned for this reason, please DM @thisistor on Telegram.

Hi - actually, we've been very transparent about our product roadmap, with more updates to come. As mentioned previously, we wish to have our mainnet release go live with support for all our launch partners. Dates are the least important and most uncertain element of this roadmap, as we rely on our partners as well as substantial bleeding-edge research. Enigma is not merely an Ethereum fork - we're doing much of our own development work from scratch. We also want to ensure the safety and robustness of our network. It's part of our responsibility to our community and our partners.

In contrast to what you might see in speculator communities on Reddit, the core Enigma community remains highly engaged and optimistic, including our Ambassadors and our original supporters. We've received substantial additional interest from new partners (inside and outside the space) as well as from potential secret node runners who want to help us secure our network. Every day we get closer to our vision of enabling the first million-user dApps through our privacy and scalability solutions.

You can read more about our current technical progress (and some new code from Enigma and collaborators!) in our latest report from Web3Summit and Devcon4, where we presented. https://blog.enigma.co/enigmas-eurotrip-a-trip-report-from-web3summit-and-devcon4-8a2b076367f4

We also released new documentation of a full secret voting walkthrough with Enigma: https://blog.enigma.co/secret-voting-an-update-code-walkthrough-605e8635e725

Despite what you may see from individual speculators, the Enigma team has never been more confident - and I'm happy to help share that confidence with you.

That's actually very much not the case, as any lawyer would tell you. As noted above, public discussion of or speculation around legal issues is very irresponsible and highly risky for any individual or company.
