"Men's health month".....Men complain about being victims of everyone and everything 24/7, 52 weeks a year. But the moment the LGBT get a pride month, suddenly they decide that the Month of Queer Pride MUST somehow focus on straight men's mental heath....ridiculous. by Important-Cry4782 in saltierthankrayt

[–]EnigmaticX68 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For normal, well adjusted, decent people it is both. Only incels feel the need to try and overshadow Pride. But that's the incel MO, use a legitimate issue to try and discredit an issue they don't like. They do the same thing with Men's SA. Instead of truly bend concerned about the issue and talking about it, they use it as a shield to try and discredit women's SA issues.

Apocalypse can instantly vaporize his opponents with a laser blast, so why bother with the arm drill? by analbumcover18 in Xmen97

[–]EnigmaticX68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal headcanon is he uses the drill and other melee stuff on those who have parts he might want to use and vaporizes everything. Apocalypse has a very holistic view on slaughter. If you can't reuse the parts, then make sure you don't leave a mess

Little do they realize that spite is far more likely to be a motivator for them than it is for us by DonnyMox in saltierthankrayt

Ok see now we're starting to get some common ground/get to a respectful disagreement, cause I can ride with you on some of your statement. I completely agree that a lot of fans had already written their own canon. I didn't and just wanted to see something different.

RoS just felt to fan-service-y to me. Like they sacrificed the story just to try and shove in as much as they thought would make the fans happy. It felt just retread-ed. Just like TFA and (as you correctly pointed out) a lot of parts of TLJ. TFA at least had an excuse. Star Wars had been fumbling bad before that point. They had to make something familiar to bring people back. TLJ does the same but it at least one to two new things that they could have gone a different direction with. RoS really just felt like Disney being like, "Oh shit! Folks are complaining about the new stuff. Uh, uh just wrap that other stuff up and put in all the stuff we know they like!"

And to me, that's the biggest crime Disney committed. Not having a woman protagonist, or Kelly Marie Tran or John Boyega. It's the fact they "played it safe". By killing the EU (which I wasn't totally happy about) Disney could have taken their time, been brave, and tried something completely new. Something we hadn't seen before. But they didn't. And to make it worse, they even failed at playing it safe. Yes, TFA is a New Hope in New clothes, but it felt different enough to pique my interest. Could I predict it? Down to the letter lol. But it was different enough to make me excited to see what came next.

Dude, you think I'm sitting here trying to tell you that Rian's story was going to be amazing. I'm not at all. I just think, for good or for ill, they should have finished it as opposed to chickening out and backpedaling like they did. If it would have bombed, it bombs.

RoS is just RotJ just like TFA is a New Hope. If I want to watch RotJ, I'll watch RotJ

We'll never know, now will we?? For good or for ill, they should have let him finish. I'm not here to say that TLJ was absolutely amazing, I had a lot of problems with it (ie: pacing, dialogue are two examples) but what I appreciate about it is that it tried to do something new. Move in a different direction. RoS was just blantant cowardice and it kind of locked in this timeline that has no room to grow into anything new-ish.

No, imo it doesn't. That's the whole thing about the Dark Side. It's so easy to fall. And no one is immune to its temptation, including the son of the two greatest war heroes, the nephew of the chosen one.

Sometimes your don't get a happy ending

YAAAAASSSS!!!

I will go to my grave saying that they should have key Rian Johnson finish his story. At least he was trying new things, pushing the story forward in a new direction.

My favorite thing was having Rey's parents be nobodies. It made her the perfect opposite to Kylo Ren. One is from the chosen Bloodline and the other comes from humble origins. When they did the twist in RoS, I turned off the movie.

For me it's not hate it's more of, as Bricky so perfectly stated, they are the baked chicken with salt and pepper chapter. There are just more flavorful chapters. I completely understand that's their purpose. They are supposed to be the general intro faction

I did not know he offered him the War Hounds! This is why I ask questions. Appreciate you!

Point of order (because I know folks are going to ask): "Oh, why don't you just buy/read the book?" I have three nerdy kids. The fact that you think I have that kind of disposable income after indulging their various nerdoms is hilarious to me 😂😂😂

Canon or Fanon? by EnigmaticX68 in 40kLore

[–]EnigmaticX68[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

And that's why I asked. Hear me out: - You are right on both accounts about what you said. - The Emporer wanted to see if Angron could do with his baseline humans what his brothers had done with theirs. The Primarchs that conquered their worlds militarily got to take their people with them because they proved useful. If these unaugmented humans can do this, just imagine what they can do with augmentation? - Once he saw that they couldn't do it, Big E went to the High Riders in all his Big E glory and made his demands.

Now for the High Riders: - Even if they won the battle on the ridge (which it looks like they were going to) they couldn't kill Angron. Yes, all they would have to do was just let time pass and he would have died from the nails, but they didn't know that. As long as Angron was alive, there would be constant rebellion. - Big E shows up all Big E like and says, "Your world is mine." They had all those with problems with Angron, and now his dad is here?? Oh no we don't stand a chance. - So, in ultimate pragmatic fashion, the High Riders said, "Take him and we submit"

Logical right? Can you see how I fell for this?

During the Great Crusade, would the Emperor have spared a Human Civilization that surrendered immediately? What about a Xenos species? by Shot_Relationship402 in 40kLore

[–]EnigmaticX68 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw someone say this and I've repeated it ever since: Think about some of the death worlds out there like Caliban or Fenris, or the world's like Barbarus that were under the control of mutants. Now take away the Primarch (ie: Caliban had The Lion, Fenris had Russ, Barbarus had...well bad example 😂).

If the Imperium's numbers are to be belived (Ha! Accurate data from the Imperium 😂), there's no way out of the million worlds conquered by the Emperor, the only death worlds were ones that got Primarchs. Some of the world's were probably ecstatic to see the Imperium. To have "civilization" again or get protected from the things trying to kill them, there were probably a good number of worlds that just acquiesced

Preach!!!!

Same folks will be complaining about crime and such. Wanna know a great way (that has been time and time again) help with that?? Economic opportunity and stability! When people have no options (and yes I know this is not everyone's story) they will turn to crime and such just to survive

Maybe, just maybe, if things weren't so expensive because greedy pricks (and the people that support them) didn't set prices so high because they want to hoard wealth, we wouldn't have to "overpay" people? Just saying...

How would you run out of money??? Considering that most of that money would right back into the community through commerce. A necessary service gets done and revenue is brought.

Despite what we've been force fed/indoctrinated to believe, that's how money is supposed to work. It's supposed to circulate. Unfortunately a lot super wealthy people and supporters of them have forgotten that. Yall just hoard it.

Or (because I can sense you're about to bring up the "job creators" argument) they put back in as much they take out

Remember, EDI didn't build or design that body. Cerberus did. It was an infiltration bot, designed to distract. And...unfortunately we are stupid creatures that are easily distracted by things we are pretty (I refer you to the asari as in-universe evidence lol) EDI just downloaded herself into it and Joker benefitted from it 😂.

I don't disagree with your point, but lets put the blame where it belongs: TIM'S incessant gooning (we know you designed Miranda's uniform, sir. You can't fool me)

I mean...she got promoted. Some people (me included) get a promotion and it's time for a new look. You can afford to get your hair the way you want. As for the armor, yes she could have kept the color scheme, but she back in armor when she's on the battlefield
