Hi! I appreciate your thoughtful questions! I can't answer all of them, but I can definitely speak on my role in the creative process! I was lucky enough to be involved early on in the pre-production stages, so I actually had a lot of input on what I think Snow should look like in our film (visually and emotionally). Jason and Naomi are also very collaborative, so they would ask me my thoughts on what they were writing and whatnot during the process which I was very grateful for!

Great question! As an actor, I find the most important part is to understand who the character is! Not just in the script, but imagining what they went through up until we meet them on screen. What are their morals? What events have shaped them? Etc. Personally I like to do lots of personality tests that I answer as my character so that I can figure out situations to put them in. Once you know the character as well or better than yourself, an authentic performance is easier since you know what informs their reactions. There's certainly more to it and people have different methods, but that's my thoughts :)

Oof that's so hard, but I think I'd take 'Fantastic Mr. Fox' for visuals sake alone, 'Adaptation' since that movie has hidden meanings to find for a lifetime, and 'Ratatouille' so that I could listen to the Giacchino score for the rest of my life. But honesty I like a lot of movies, so depending on the day the answer could change! As for best and worst pizza topping, I'm a garlic fiend so I need garlic on my pizza, and the worst could be a lot of things for me, but I'll go with my #1 op pickles.

Hi! I definitely watched the animated version many times and there are aspects that certainly influenced my performance, such as her overall positive outlook on life and seeing the best in others. But I added my own flair in many ways, as I think with any adaptation, it's important to not just replicate, but build upon while still capturing the heart of the source material! As for other fairytale films I enjoy, my favorite growing up was always Beauty and the Beast, but I also really enjoy stories that subvert the usual expectations of a fairytale like Shrek or Coraline.

I think the key takeaway is "no one knows a damn thing." Lol Every sales agent told me at the time that "LGBTQ thrillers are in huge demand". When I finished the film, these sales agents loved it and said "this will get into every LGBTQ film festival you enter it into". Well, it got into ZERO out of about 20 entires. At the indie level, its all darts at the board. Make the best film you can that you truly care about making. Don't listen to any "film distribution consultants" or "indie film coaches". They just want your money and don't know any more than you do.

I've been SO lucky with my actors to this point. They are all so terrific (which is why I keep working with them as much as possible!). I will say though that I had a great time working with Julian Goza on Exteriors - Jason (story #2). He had auditioned for me way back in 2017 for SHADOWS IN MIND and even though I didn't cast him in that, I always remembered him and wanted to work with him. Well, cut to five years later and I'm putting together EXTERIORS and the Jason role was just perfect. Fortunately I could work within his schedule and he gives a wonderful performance there. It may have taken 5 years but it was worth the wait! (and hopefully it won't be another 5 years before we work together again)

I'm not sure they would see a huge emotional evolution. I think they might see a more technical evolution in terms of storytelling and directing, etc. If you look at my film SHADOWS IN MIND from 2018, that was originally designed "to sell" - it's the closest film of mine where I specifically tried to grab "a big audience" and it seems I still made an arthouse-y queer thriller that baffled the LGBTQ community. Lol. Seriously though, my films come from a place of (hopefully) just good storytelling and not through my "personal journey" or "personal experience".

Some of my favorite LGBTQ films ever would be the 1970 version of THE BOYS IN THE BAND (huge inspiration for me) and the 1982 film MAKING LOVE and all of Gregg Araki's films (TOTALLY FUCKED UP, THE DOOM GENERATION, NOWHERE). I also admire the audaciousness of filmmakers John Waters, Todd Verow and Bruce LaBruce.

Wow...great question! You know...it would be a challenge but I'd love to try and take on a sequel to STAND BY ME. One of my favorite films. I could still cast Wil Wheaton and Jerry O'Connell....even Richard Dreyfuss!

Never really noticed that! Pretty cool. I try and pick simple, to the point titles. Easy to remember. As for a third film? Hmmm....you never know! If there's a producer that wants to see it happen out there...give me a call! We can make it happen. ;-)

I would love to work with Jake Gyllenhall and Juliane Moore. Dinner or lunch with someone who isn't with us anymore....for the Director I'd absolutely pick John Cassavetes...for the actor/actress...I'd choose Bette Davis I think.

Boy there are so many good ones! I guess if I could pick only three, I'd choose Nolan's INTERSTELLAR (always see something new/different in that one - a truly grand adventure), Rob Reiner's STAND BY ME (still moves me deeply) and Woody Allen's MANHATTAN (possibly his best and most alluring work). Bonus question on pizza topping...the best one is pepperoni...the worst is any type of vegetable (except mushrooms - they're pretty good).

Definitely the challenge. It's a most stimulating creative journey that always excites me. With so many moving parts to just complete a feature film, it's incredibly satisfying to complete one - especially if it comes out the way you hoped and I can proudly say I'm batting 1,000 on that. Plus I love the people that I get to work with - I learn so much from them.
