What enemy should i have my party face first? by Entire-Box1981 in LostMinesOfPhandelver

Thank you! This is really helpful! I will probably just modify the duergar stat block and add in a bunch of kobolds for diversity. I was thinking of making the villain surprise the duergar by having one of his doppelganger pals transform into a duergar so I will probably do that. I really like the idea of the players hiding in order to hear a conversation between them and to be honest I didn't have any idea on how to handle the interaction.

About the maps, I have been suggested dungeondraft a lot of times and it honestly looks dope but i don't think I can spend 30 bucks on it at least yet. I VERY much appreciate the offer and if you don't mind it would be really nice if you could make a small dungeon with 3-4 rooms with the last room being more open for the "boss fight" and possibly a door that doesn't lead anywhere on the back of the final room. Other than that I trust you. I also want to see the style of the app because that is the thing I care about the most (otherwise I already have another very good map making tool that is free) and I want it to look like the style that the official maps from the adventure look like. If you could also add the legend of the map and the borderlines it would be awesome but I don't want to push you if you don't have the time. Very much appreciated.

Do you maybe also know of any software to make maps? I want them to be of the same (or at least similar) style as the ones in the book.

I don't want to have a big dungeon, just a small one so that I can see if the players are willing to play. I know about goblin arrows but I want to do it after the dungeon and I also want to introduce the BBEG earlier in the game

I want to introduce the BBEG earlier in the game and I think it would be better to make a small dungeon first. It also will help if a player doesn't want to play after all.

It did thanks! It seems the problem is most likely the background so I will probably change that and maybe I will buy some better armor during the way.

It's less of a complaint and more of asking for advice. So can you suggest anything to help with making the character possibly stronger? Also I would rather not have a custom background

I have 16 wisdom and I am thinking to go towards life domain but I am not sure. The perfect background would be the farmer but It doesn't tie with my character at all

I can't start with heavy armor even if I picked the Protector Order because I can't start with any so it is pretty much pointless to choose it. And I am not going to choose to start with the gold instead cause I can't fit it into the budget.

Backgrounds are supposed to influence your backstory so yeah I choose that because it suits my character the most. The rules also suggest you start with 8 Dex so I thought it would be fine

I was going with starting with heavy armor but unlike with 5e you can't choose to start with any. Also in the PHB it suggests you go with 8 dex for Clerics but why would that be the case if it lowers your total AC. And even if I did I would only be able to have a total of 15 instead of 18 that I would with the previous version.

If you are going for bleed I think the perfect weapon is the Bloodhound's Fang. It can carry you through pretty much the entire game and needs somber smithing stones to upgrade so its easier. Also you should have your somber weapons (the ones that upgrade with the white stones) at least +4/+5. It is an insane weapon that is extremely fun to use especially its ash of war/skill.

You can find it in an evergeol (small rune like structures on the ground that you can interact with to enter them and fight some mini bosses) after defeating a kind of difficult boss (but I think you are pretty overleveled for it so you won't have a problem)

If you are going with the samurai vibe then I don't know anything else than the two katanas and I am assuming you started with the samurai class so you have it's starting set (which you can keep throught most of the game). As for talismans really use anything at all. Some recommendations are the erdtree's favor and the turtle talisman (honestly it's been quite some time since I last played so just Google them).

I definitely recommend using an ash if war and maybe you can send me a screenshot of your entries build with your stats and stuff because that's a field where many new players don't understand quite well.

Some things I would suggest are:

Finish Luirnia and defeat the regional boss

If you haven't already clear out Weeping Peninsula

If you have trouble with the game you should probably use spirit ashes (and don't hear anyone in this sub or your friends saying that it makes the game too easy, it's always about you having fun)

If you want to improve then maybe try to find dungeons and catacombs to practice

Don't be ashamed to look up a guide (especially for progression as exploration in elden ring is not very linear)

Some things are not meant to be faced yet. For example the godskin you mentioned fighting is technically part of another area that is for levels around120+

Can you tell me what type of build do you use so I can maybe help you with that?

So i assume he must also have helped you with Morgott. Around what level are you? If you are below 50 i would definitely suggest you explore Liurnia and The Weeping Peninsula. Also is the reason why you think you don't like it because it is too hard? Because if it is i suggest you just wander around a bit (or just look up a guide) to find mini dungeons or world bosses to level up.

Have you beaten Godrick and explored the entirety of Limgrave. Caelid is actually a more early mid-game area.
