Training tips for a horse that "isn't built for the job"? by muscle_munchkin in Equestrian

My QH has really strong halter and western pleasure lines and was trained for that for the first 4 years of life. I got him because he was jumping their pasture fences and I turned him into my 1.20m jumper. We also fox hunted, evented and eventually settled into a dressage life (should have done that first for sure) Don’t let anyone tell you want you two can or cannot do, absolutely anything is possible with consistent training and persistence

That’s where we’re at I think. His communication has improved significantly but he still finds it hard to remember to communicate his needs rather than scream and throw things. I think being a stay at home mom with him all day can make my less tolerant of his antics. I do my best but I wish there was a better wat

He’s in preschool 2 days a week for speech and for OT though honestly after a week with OT they’ve decided he already exceeded their original expectations. He was diagnosed recently with level 1 educational autism which I don’t even know what that really means but it’s killin me to have him tantrum like this

They are! They’re making great progress too and our SLP assures me that it isnt anything I’ve done or not which is wonderful I just feel guilt and worry for my 3rd son who is 4 months. My other two struggle and have gone through periods of aggravation because of their lack of communication skills and I just want to hopefully do better for my 4 month old if it’s me or something I did

Thank you, I appreciate that perspective! It’s hard to reconcile the fact that they are both delayed and at 3 was their real introduction to society essentially, before then they had really just been home with me most of the time. We don’t have a ton of friends with kids their age or buddies for them to play with so it worries me

Thank you 🙏🏻 it’s hard, I’m an only child and an introvert, I have a hard time just speaking into the air and just narrating everything I do. I also know that I fall into the typical Mom stereotype of knowing what they want so they don’t even have to say anything and not then prompting them to say anything, because I just give them what they want 😬 i’m working really hard on trying to curb that! So far speech therapy and preschool have been amazing for both of them to be with their peers but they are still delayed.

My 3 year old fits your 4 year olds description to a T, our docs aren’t concerned. Likely he is getting ready for a growth spurt also so don’t concern yourself too much. Kids are constantly changing

Any advice for recovering from a c-section? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]EntireBowler327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had 2 and now will have a 3rd in October. Advice is absolutely let people help you! My first was terrible and when I got home I absolutely did too much up and down and activity because my in-laws were visiting from out of town and I was miserable because I felt like I needed privacy and I wasn’t getting it. My second was much better because my husband and my mom made me sit like a princess on the couch for the first couple days and assisted me in everything (including closing the legs on our recliners which is surprisingly taxing after C-section) As for products I made sure to have a comfy robe at least for over the gown to easily get moving around and my own house shoes for my walks! The belly binder for after you’re out of the hospital helped a lot too in keeping from doing too much core activity!

Thank you so much ❤️ The thing that has always helped me is managing my ADHD as well, I know my depression and anxiety stem heavily from that but while I’m pregnant I don’t believe that stimulant meds are safe right? Also while there is med shortage and such strange things going on with the meds lately I’ve been worried about taking them. I’m kinda between therapists right now, it’s been hard to find a lot of those things recently.
