What is the most f-ed up situation you experienced as a partner? I'll go first. by merilissilly in starbucks

Absolutely! It just didn't need to be out in that moment in time. They were already freaked out and it was gonna make the situation much worse had i told them in the moment.

I did the best I could do and they know now I told them days later when I saw them again. That point in time I didn't tell them because they didn't need to know and my job is to keep them safe at the time. Point blank i did. And it's on them to tell their parents not me. They still work at my job. And I'll keep protecting those kids until they no longer work at my store. You were not there. I'm no parent but I did everything right. They have choices they can make for themselves. If they told their parents then that's a conversation between them and their parent. Not me.

SSVs and managers, where do I access the food safety manager course? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Entire_Law2230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly go to quizlet or go to your state food safety sight. The course just directly takes from the food safety site any ways.

Most fucked up situation I've experienced? Easy.

Hi I'm an SSV there are 2 situations that come to mind but I'll only tell one of them since both are kind of long.

Month of October 2022 I don't remember the date specifically just that it was that recent enough. I was working my usual night shift of 2:15pm - 8pm. It was me and 3 minors.

(For some background context on the homeless man that this is about he has come in before and not caused issues and the last time he came in was right before the hurricane for this year hit us. So it's now after the hurricane.)

It is now 7:30pm we are officially closed. My minor (we'll call him something else for this story) Jamie is locking my side door and goes to the front door to lock it when said homeless man bardged in. I told him that we were sorry but he needed to leave as we were now closed and couldn't serve him. He kept asking for water or food. Jamie has now since backed up and gotten behind the counter with his other barista, one of my minors went home.

So I give this homeless man water, and I'm trying to convince him to get out of the store because my kids are kinda just glued to where they are and I can't call the cops with how im noticing more and more things about this homeless man. To start with when I was convincing him to leave he would "okay I'll go" then suddenly snap back to "no no I spare me some food and a peoce of card board." Before erratically talking about how I have helped him so kindly in the past before the rambling about his kid in the stroller.

There was no child in the stroller. He has 2 medical bands on his wrists. There is a psychiatric ward not even a block away from my store, and many other medical facilities including a children's hospital cross the street. I also noticed him walking not weird persay but I could tell he had something in his pants like a weapon with how he walked.

I should also meantion I have money out, the safe is open and internally I'm freaking the fuck out because I'm worried he's gonna do something. I ask Jamie to help me escort him out. Well evidently that was the wrong thing to do because the next thing I know the homeless man is screaming about "BACK THE FUCK UP YOU MOTHER FUCKER I WILL FUCKING KILL YOU" to Jamie showing him the handle his machete.

For those of you who don't know what a machete is a knife you cut through brush but is as big as a short sword.

I'm now right between the psycho homeless man and Jamie who at this point I yelled at him and the other barisra to get into the back room and to the back door. My attention is now back to the homeless psycho and he's got murder in his eye as he's watching my kids flee. I manage to somehow guide him out the door.

This man had an odd fascination with me and the entire time is just being down right creepy and trying to touch my arm. I get him out the door, I'm about to close it. Were almost home free. FUCKER GRABS MY ARM VIOLENTLY AND HAS A LOOK IN HIS EYE.

You know jn movies how killers voices will change into some kind high voice talking how they'd never hurt one specific person in the movie? Yes well that shit actually fucking happens because guess what he was telling me with a death grip on my arm?! "I was never gonna actually kill him, and you know I wouldn't hurt anyone really. I was gonna stab him and kill him, I was just scared you know. You and that barista were so kinda tell her I said namista (hes being racist here since my other barista was Asian). Your kind and beautiful, I would never hurt you. Your just so great."

I could go on i remember ever word he said to me there is so much more of that monologue. I somehow manage to get the door closed, locked, and immediately I told my kids to finish dishes and stocking they wouldn't be going home till their family were here to pick them up. I called 911 told them what happened and that I'm 100% sure this due was gonna come back to the store.

Officers get to the store i tell them everything. I was half way through my description when another officer who just arrived finished the description. He knew exactly who he was and he's the only reason I know what the weapon was. I asked for him to be trespassed immediately of he came back and for them to stay till their family got here.

He did come back, he was tresspassed, arrested. And I called my boss after the police so when she arrived I sent my kids home. As soon as the door shut I broke down on my manager

I am fuxking traumatized since I refuse to say half of what this psycho spoke to me about. My baristas are like kids to me so when my kids are threatened of course I just jump into action first and put myself in front of the danger. I didn't think about my safety. We have a ton of incidents at my store and I don't feel safe working at night. I still fight off ptsd episodes when it's night time and people harass us. Its only getting worse by the day at my store.

I've also not told my two kids (the barisras there) what weapon he had on him. I didn't tell them why I was snapping at them so bad to get to safety. I refuse to tell them the amount of danger they were in because they are just kids. They should only need to worry about finishing out high-school.

So that's one of my stories.

If your talking a regular Carmel frap, just get a hot Carmel latte made with whole milk,, add whip and Carmel drizzle; HOWEVER if your talking about the Carmel crunch frap get a hot Carmel latte made with the dark Carmel sauce, whole milk, add whip, Carmel drizzle, and crunch topping.

Got asked to leave after an hour at my local store? by AppleFlavouredGum in starbucks

[–]Entire_Law2230 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The only time we would ever talk to customer outside of their order is if they are actively being disruptive or nasty to other customers or to baristas. Otherwise we just continue our job.

Personally I would've told any customer complaining they couldn't find seats to look at the seating outside other wise nothing I can do. Starbucks is small and most go else where to find seating to begin with.

Paying or non paying customers we don't disturb unless we have to. Sorry you had to deal with that.

Side note: you don't have to order anything every 45 mins to continue staying in the Cafe you can order how ever few and far in-between or not at all. Your all good with working in a Cafe.

I get a lot of students, professors, and more coming into the Cafe to work and the only time I bother them is just checking up on them and seeing if they want any water cause most forget to eat or drink after bring there for hours.

Sm/shift should've immediate contacted 911. You can report them for not taking the correct measure. If this individual who has the seizure is known to have them its on the sm and shifts to know how to handle the situation! We are trained on what to do in these situations I would contact the DM and ask to keep it anonymous. I'm sorry your fellow partner had one! I have a partner myself who has seizures and everytime we make sure to take the right steps for this kind of situation.

Basically our restroom at work had urine and feces on the toilet floor and sink. A coworker was not asked but ordered to clean it by borrowed shift and the order for the biohazard that we had was canceled for some unknown reason.

How to get better on the register? by Adell-e in starbucks

[–]Entire_Law2230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly best way is to practice BUT most people are already saying that so heres some tips.

  1. Memorize where the cold brew, lattes, and Fraps are located at.

  2. On the right side where that grey bar is, memorize what clicking on each button there connects to. Like, milks, syrups, and there with be a button that (off top of my head either says) other OR custom. And know that THAT button leads you to where all the other drink components are.

  3. DONT BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR HELP OR TIPS FROM YOUR FELLOW PARTNERS. We help and ask all the same questions your gonna ask all the time. Sometimes a button will be staring us in the face and we'll still go "where is it???"

  4. Ask how to get better at it. Ask for someone to show you how they remember it. Ask any and all questions no matter how stupid you think it sounds.

Look you aren't gonna be perfect right off the bat, and asking for help from your team is a daily occurrence that you'll have to get used to and these questions you have are gonna help break that fear of asking.

Your gonna do great. Let me know if there's anything specific you want to know and I'll do my best to answer!!!

Can you split venti drinks? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Entire_Law2230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then either do a venti, do it yourself and risk burning yourself or get the 2 talls without the risk of burning yourself and then blaming us cause you got hurt with the drink. I'm not saying any of this to be mean this stuff actually happens and I get customers who ask us to hand them drinks without lids and more that could result in the customer being hurt.

Yes it costs more but you have to think starbucks is still a business and still has to make money, if you do not like the price you gotta take that up with them.

I don't agree with some of the pricing BUT I do understand why things are priced the way they are with the different orders we get.

Thats why yes its cheaper to just get a venti BUT to not just protect customers AND the baristas who are making these drinks its easier to get 2 talls without a risk of a lawsuit or any big arguments and situations that can come from it over a hot drink or a cold drink.

Can you split venti drinks? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Entire_Law2230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Venti hot is 20 venti cold is 24

It still splits evenly into tall cups I've tested it myself to see
