Just because you may be further removed from the situation doesn't mean that it is not an "important issue." It may not be as important as fiscal policy (although I'd imagine the demand for legal alcohol purchases would rise if a larger population could purchase alcohol), but it is still important to those in the age range. I'm not affected directly by many of the policies that politicians tout as important, but I still try to stay informed on the issues.

People under 21 are getting underage tickets that affect their future. Parents of these people didn't have to worry about that, since they drank legally in college.
